What route should I take ?

    Hi guys,

Lets try to revive this forum. I'm on a waver.

    Cliff notes:

Married, with one daughter (a 2 years old princess), a full time job. Main goal on poker is to make an extra income and improve as a player. Only have 10h/week (included weekends) of quality time to dedicate to poker (playing & studying). My main game is/was the $2.50 180man on PStars (have a 15% ROI on them in a 3.6k games sample) but they are very swingy and is mostly a volume game. I’ve busted some $20 bankrolls on minor sites playing cash game, so i think i'm not skilled for them. I want to develop my thought process and hand reading, instead of playing a gazillion of tables like a robot. My long term goal it to have a BR to play the big regulars MTT’s at weekends on PStars and some low-cost local live events.

What root should I take ?

    Ty in advance

In my opinion, you need to grind the 180's like a robot until you have the BR you desire to play the bigger MTT's. Although multi tabling may not greatly improve your hand reading ability, it will grow your BR over time, assuming you are a winning player.

"Main goal on poker is to make an extra income and improve as a player"

do u want to make an extra income or do u want to improve as a player? these are 2 goals not 1 goal and with only 10 hours per week you would take vastly different routes in trying to achieve one or the other.

grinding $2.50s until you have a big enough bankroll as dyehard said isnt the best idea imo because your hourly winrate in those will likely be significantly lower than your day job (you didnt mention how many tables of 2.50s you play simultaneously), so if u actually want to make money playing poker would be better to just grind out profit in your day job, put time and money investment into beating higher stakes games where your hourly could actually be something significant (if youre playign 2.50s and like 10 tabling ur probably making less than $10/hr even with decent edge)

Both . The 10h/week is a realistic number, is the number of hours where i'm sure i can dedicate quality time to poker. Some weeks i can have a few more hours tough.
I was 14 tabling at some point, but I've dropped to 12.

i understand you want to do both but playing $2.50s for 10hr/week isnt really going to improve your game quickly nor improve your financial situation quickly. If you want to improve as a player put time into studying and playing more complicated games (cash games) vs better opponents (not the 97%+ recreational player fields that are the $2.50 180mans). If you want to make an extra income, save up some money from your day job to make a proper bankroll, learn to beat the 15$ 180m (or $35s if you work hard!) and mass table all buy ins <$15.

the main thing holding u back is that you only have 10 hours per week to play. The pros are spending all of their time thinking about the game and playing way more than u its going to be hard to *both* improve as a player and make money with so little time spent relative to your competition

Pretty good advice whereisdonny , cashgames actually fits better in my "life-style" although i have to start basically from scratch since all of my background are from SNGMTT's.

playing less games and paying attention to them might be more helpful to improve your game. Getting a coach would be well worth it, spending $100 fixing a leak could be worth thousands in the long run. Being able to move up stakes is your best plan in the long run.
