First sorry about the content in my last post, think I was tilting abit and being alittle whiny about it.
Preflop raising? Boston's book says you should never raise preflop in OHL8 because all the starting hands are fairly equal unlike NL Holdem. Another school of thought and mostly by the ole timers is never raise naked A2xx PF. I guess is you are raising its usually A23, AK23. I mean c'mon theres not that many super premium hands in OHL8 and if you only raise the hands that come once in 300 hands fine, but everyone at the table should know exactly what you have.
The other inconsistencies or confusing aspect of PF raising is WHY? There's two reasons and they seem to contradict each other. One being is to not let people in the pot and only play heads up at best. Two is you want alot players in being you're hand plays well multi pot and you want as much money as possible in the hand-The same goes for not raising certain hands in EP cause u dont want people behind you to fold you want them in
I do want to clarify that the games here in Vegas, especially at the Orleans are LOOSE tables. It is more common of and I said atleast 5 players seeing a flop most hands, and believe me when I tell you 6-7 seeing the flop is more like it.
My thoughts are first that most the players and even the local regs are not well versed in the game. This also means there are tons of 2nd and 3rd best hands playing and not folding on the flop. They will call you down to the river, I've seen it (One great reason to play only nut like hands whether high or low).
So do you raise to build a pot or do you raise to have less players involved. Guess it really depends on your hand and the table. which hands to raise to have less players and which hand to raise to build a pot. What a dilemna. Cya
