Myself and the villian have run into each other several times, he was somewhat loose and was waiting for a mistake, he has come over the top several times, twice pre and one cbet of mine. I had nothing and had to fold waiting for the right time to play back at him. I had just cbet a dry flop vs him and took it down and then this hand....

I'd say calling his raise was probably a bit loose. All you could beat would be a bluff or a miracle q10, and he is obviously committing to the pot with the raise. Unless this guy is going pretty crazy from hand to hand I try to avoid making that call.

I find myself in this situation too often.. I use to do what you did here with the QJ, but I am now avoiding this by keeping my head. There is zero equity in getting into one of these battle in the first place but we all do it.. I now scroll my chat bar up so I can't see his responses or anyone else that may reply and I play my game as if that person is not even at the table.. I play the cards dealt and the table as a whole. If you did want to catch him in a mistake you have to have a hand to do it with and as Charlie said previously, QJ isn't it..

I strongly agree, I dont play tournaments but if someone is getting out of line or playing way too loose in a cash game I will make a stand at some point, it has to be with a stronger hand than QJ though.

As often happens, I have a different view on this situation from the others. Your opponent's range, if he is as maniac as you say, is much wider then Q10+. He'd be pulling that with any 2 hearts, and likely any sporadic Q he happens to have in his hand. This is essentially a BvB hand which widens his range as well.

How long do you let yourself get bullied before you make a stand? Folding is the safer choice, especially as you had a ton of chips left over. But I like your play here.

Perception is the key word here.. It appears that we don't know what he had when he made these previous moves, so he might not be the maniac we think he is and therefore his range not as wide.. Case in point, I had AK, AK, 1010, and QQ all in a row yesterday and 3bet twice on the same guy.. I am sure in his mind he thought I was a maniac.. But as you can see I had good reason to make the plays that I made..

With all that being said I still believe the call was incorrect with this hand. If you lose as you did you will most certainly go on tilt and your next game or current game will suffer.. I believe you are already suffering from tilt when you made the decision to play this hand to a raise to begin with, but again just my opinion.. A good discussion nonetheless.

probably the best chance to get out here... check raise half of his stack...? You just got played on this hand... maniac even smooth called with KQ from blind and such a cooler that q hit...

Def. the best advice thus far

After thinking it over....I saw the villian show some low quality hands as well, his amount of check raise either means 2 hearts or I'm beat imo...went with my gut
