Excaliber converting to all electronic poker
Just found out that the Excaliber shut down their live poker room operations a few days ago gave all their dealers the boot and is getting ready to re-open tomorrow as a completely electronic poker room. Not quite sure what to think of this yet. But I don't think I like it. The tables will be Pokertek which are found in some cruise ships and dog tracks currently.
I read this on allvegaspoker.com here --> AllVegasPoker.com :: View topic - Excalibur Poker Room Going to ALL Electronic Tables on 8/22
There are also a couple youtube videos that can be credited to KLAS TV Channel 8 in Las Vegas here --> YouTube - Excalibur Poker Room Las Vegas Interview LasVegasMichael

I am kind of curious to try them at first, but am doubtfull that I would want to support them by playing them on a regular basis with not having actual chips in my hand to shuffle and to not have actual cards in my hand.
Interested to hear others opinions.

I just got back from Vegas yesterday, the dealers at PH were talking about this. Their main concern was colusion amongst players and who would monitor it.

wouldn't want to play them
I agree, part of the excitement and joy of the card room is the hands on experience. You are pretty much playing live internet poker I think. I can't imagine myself enjoying it.

I am not suprised. I have read about these electronic tables and they are impressive! I think they are the future for poker rooms. In a tough economy I am sure these tables make even more business sense to the casinos. I prefer a live dealer and handling the cards and chips anytime over a computer. Brent said it best as it would be like playing online! Furthermore, the same concept could easily be done with many of the games such as Blackjack etc.
Last time I was in Vegas I was joking with someone about slot machines and how the casinos could just stick a button and a screen on the desk in the hotel room and it would be the same odds as pushing the button at the slot machine on the floor.
Obviously Casinos can't convert totally to electronic games. It would dampen the entire experience for the player and result in less business overall.
This will be interesting to watch!
