Phil Hellmuth won the WSOPE ME to earn his 13th bracelet. That also goes along with his 3rd, 4th, and three 2nds in the past two WSOP's. That's pretty unbelievable. I'm not a big Hellmuth fan but you have to respect those kinds of results.

Hellmuth has put together an amazing string of major tournament performances over the last couple of years. I think everyone who claims that his strategies aren't competitive with those of the younger players needs to reconsider their position.

Not sure I understand the significance of ppl playing bad against him. I would suggest that any good player would say ppl play bad. I say it 5 times a tournament. Ppl are bad at poker period, it's figuring out how to win against the field that is hard. Phil is obviously great at games, specifically NL Holdem.
Well said in my opinion. This is what great players do. They find ways to make others play bad against them over and over again.
And Hellmuth isn't just good at NLHE. He is an expert at all forms of poker. Look at his 2011 WSOP results. He made three final tables, and finished second all three times.
+ $ 10,000 No Limit Deuce To Seven Draw World Championship
+ $ 10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo Championship
+ $ 50,000 The Poker Players Championship - 8 Game
Then look at his 2012 WSOP results. He made four more final tables, and won two of them!
+ $ 2,500 Seven Card Razz (Event #18)
+ $ 10,000 H.O.R.S.E. (Event #32)
+ $ 1,000,000 The Big One for One Drop (Event #55)
+ € 10,000 No Limit Hold'em - Main Event (Event #7)
Now take notice of the tournament types. These aren't all NLHE and they're not miniscule buy-ins. These are big events against the best players in the world, and he's crushing the fields, over and over again. I didn't even list all his WSOP cashes for 2011 and 2012 - just his final tables. If you look at cashes, it's even more impressive.

The difference is that Hellmuth makes people play bad versus him that he never has met or talked to or even played a hand against. And what I mean is that people who otherwise wouldn't play bad play bad versus him. Phil Ivey has this advantage too in a completely opposite reason of why.

David Skalansky had talked about this. If Hellmuth's antics are making people play bad then you have to give him credit. There is no question Hellmuth's is better At non holdem games than ten years ago. How many people were in the wsope me
