    Venetian Deep Stack hand

Played Venetian tourney $560 buy in, start with 15k in chips, about a week ago and this hand has been bothering me since...

Blinds 100/200, 25 ante. Im sitting with about 11k in chips. Table has been quite loose. Just back from break I look down at AQo and raise it to 600 get three callers behind and BB comes in as well.

Flop comes A Q 10. No flush draws.

There's about 2700 in pot and BB checks to me. I decide to bet out 2400. Guy to my left moves it in. Folds back to me. I have him covered by only 400 chips or so.

Reads: He's an older white male. High 50's low 60's. Only been at our table for one orbit and limped folded one hand. I generally assume older guys have better than a pr to raise there, until proven otherwise. Im debating my decision and as Im looking him up, I see him make a difficult swallow. my initial instinct is to fold, but this makes me believe he may not be that comfortable. He's being still as a statue and wont make any eye contact with me. And I now have a huge dilemma.
So what do you guys think?

    Bet size on flop OK?
    Fold or call his re-raise?

I probably would bet about 1,800 on this flop.

If he played K-J and flopped the nuts, that's pretty unlucky. Maybe he flopped a set of tens. In either case, you still have four outs twice to fill up.

It would be much more likely here in my opinion for him to have a hand like A-K or A-J. That puts you way ahead most of the time, the pot is fairly sizeable, and he isn't comfortable. So I'd probably make this call.

I'd have a hard time assigning a range to this player, because really is there any advantage to shoving the absolute nuts with no flush draws when 3 players haven't acted postflop yet? But then again, the description of the player may be the type that says "I has nutz, awwww eeeen!" Granted we are not beating a lot here.....that's why I like a smaller flop bet....this will make decisions easier on future streets, and make potential mistakes not as fatal.

As played....if I was at a bad table, I might lay it down, bc a seat in such a tournament is way more valuable.....but if I was a little tilty already or if I wasn't quite sure, there is a chance I just ship it and say whatever.....

Thanks for the great input. I thought about betting smaller, but the three other callers worried me a bit. Noted though. I like the idea of the smaller bet. It would of gave me same info at a discount. I just thought the board was too draw heavy with AK,AJ,KQ,QJ, etc.

In the end, I decided to call. I thought 24k in chips would of put me in a much better spot, than leaving myself 7k. Even though 7k was 35 BB, all pots were playing huge and at the time, it seemed 7k would be crushing...LOL enter Mr Tilt.

I think you're being result oriented. If you had won the pot, you probably wouldn't have thought twice about this "mistake".

Edit: Sometimes you're just meant to lose.
