I saw the "personality types of BBP'ers" and found it interesting.
That made me think... how do the different poker players, and different level poker players learn most efficiently?
For those of you familiar with sensory preferences, what are yours?
Have you ever taken one of these tests?
If you are not familiar with the term, you are still probably familiar with the concept. It defines how people learn best. Based off of their personal preference of an auditory, visual, or kinestethic method.
Auditory and visual are pretty obvious, but for some this may help.
Auditory: Do you learn things better by listening to a cd/recording?
Visual: Do you learn better by watching someone else do something first?
Kinesthetic: Do you learn better by doing things yourself. ie. Actually "feeling"/practicing the technique of what you are learning.
Even the way someone dresses or the words they choose can describe these traits. As picked up on by killer sales people (Former) and poker players like us . Are they wearing sweats for comfort? Kinesthetic trait. They are more concerned w/ the "feel" than the visual aspects. Are they very concerned with their outward appearance? They probably learn well visually.
"Well, I definitely hear what you're saying"= Auditory preference. Etc, etc.
Most people are obviously a combination of them, but some/many can have extremes to a certain sense. Identifying these in the sales industry was a key way to get your point across to the customer in the best fashion. Doing it in poker coaching or learning may also be helpful to some. Personally, I'm just curious to how some of the best players learn most efficiently.
I can find one of these test easily and post it later. But I'm sure you can also if you just google it.
I am personally balanced equally on auditory and visual. 30% each
With kinesthetic > both @ 40%
(last time I checked)
I have a feeling I am still very heavily weighted, maybe even more so, towards kinesthetic preferences the older I get.
Anyone?
