So I finished off with Goldstar on Stars last month in my first month back to Stars. This year I plan to kick my volume up and take a shot at Nova. I feel like I am playing some of my best poker right now even though I have been falling short in a few tourneys. I have finished in the top 200 of 7000+ in 4 or 5 tourneys this week over ~15 tourneys of that size. I am confident that I will be able to FT one of these soon. 10k hands im not beating $25nl for 4bb's/100 which i hope is a solid indicator of my win rate. Im also playing less hands, and running 25/18. Im not too thrilled about this because I now get 3bet sooo much, that I started limp calling rather than raising and then 4betting or folding...so this will be what I try to
I seem to have had great success in tournaments with only ~1k games, but dont have time to grind them. So i decided to switch completely to cash games and try to move through the ranks. Ive been studying all of my opponents that i have atleast 500 hands with and trying to find leaks in their games to exploit. I figure if I find weaknesses in the regs, then i can crush the randoms. After 5k hands i had great success, beating 25NL for 11 bb's/100 at the 6max game. I was playing very loose at 27/21
This trip could not have gone any worse for me! Day one i was +$200 at a 1/2 game and got involved with another deepstack and played the hand dreadfully awful.
I had QQ MP and he leads for $15, he was actually a good player and claims to play 5/10 online. I decided to flat and BTN also calls. Flop:233, UTG checks, i bet $25, BTN folds and UTG calls. Turn is a 9. UTG checked (this seems like an obv check to me and call riv)... I bet $40, UTG raises to $80, I make it $180 and he shoves.
