"You have it in your power to turn a bad-beat around simply by realizing this simple truth: The more bad beats you encounter, the luckier you are. It's a sign that you are playing against opponents who continually take the worst of it, and if you can't beat someone who always takes the worst of it, you can't beat anyone"

My Live Poker Hiatus

by otbdave on 09-10-2008 at 12:43 PM
I have not posted in a long while, although there is a ton going on in my life, poker and otherwise...

First I will start with poker:

I have taken a break from live poker since my final game I hosted, a $300 tournament near the end of summer at the end of July or early August.

I accomplished a lot of nice goals coming down the stretch of my live games.

- $100 Winter Tournament: 1st
- Spring League Points: 1st
- $100 Spring Tournament:

"Defy You" The Offspring

by otbdave on 09-10-2008 at 12:28 PM
You may push me around,
But you cannot win.
You may throw me down,
But I'll rise again.

The more you say,
The more I defy you.
So get out of my face,
Whoa, yeah.

You cannot stop us!
You cannot bring us down.
Never give up,
We go on and on!

You'll never break us!
Never bring us down.
We are alive!

The wind blows,
I'll lean into the wind.
My anger grows,
I'LL

Poker Videos...

by otbdave on 05-28-2008 at 03:12 PM
As I sort of hinted earlier, I have begun to record some of my sessions of online poker. So far, I have only recorded 2 sessions, along with one very short video explaining what the PokerTracker numbers on my screen are.

So far, after having produced two videos, I feel that the time I have put in to this has been very worthwhile.

First of all, I feel that making the videos helps me to deeply think about my game while I am playing, as I do not want to make a "stupid"

5/16/08

by otbdave on 05-16-2008 at 09:05 PM
Graph current as of 5/16/08. As you can see, less swings again and a steady increase after the cash out. For some reason I do so much better at 100nl than 200nl.

Biggest decision in my poker career...

by otbdave on 04-09-2008 at 12:49 PM
I cashed out on Full Tilt today.

I have had my second losing day in a row, a bad losing month so far in April, and finally I am convinced that I cannot beat 200nl, at least not with how I have been playing. Constantly making mistakes in big pots, and more importantly, letting tilt creep in to my games. I used to NEVER tilt.

Ok, this is not as drastic as it sounds... Here are the factors...

1. I am down about 400 for the money of April, which is not very
