There has been some discussion lately about our policy to display full names for every user who becomes a member of BadBeatsPoker.net. We have had this policy from the beginning and the reason we enforce it is because we believe it helps maintain civility and reduces the bashing and negativity that other forums have.
It is our belief that a person is less likely to cause trouble if their name and reputation are logged with each comment or post. This has worked well for us over the past few years and I think that most will agree that even with over 700 members the forum has been very civil and free of trolls and bashers. In fact, most of the exceptions were caused by members who used fake names so they could comfortably attack others.
I do understand the security concerns some people have with displaying their full name and I've changed the way that information is displayed to other users. Guests (those who are not logged in or not members) will not be able to see the name of each user and I hope this change will address the concerns of those people asking for this change.
Going forward we will still require each member to completely and accurately fill out your name information per the user agreement you agreed to when you created your account. Those who do not follow this rule will be warned and then your account will be disabled.
