    Cool CarbonPoker

Carbonpoker is the leader of the Merge Gaming Network. It is one of the US-friendly poker rooms with good reputation.
It offers a wide variety of MTTs, ring games and an attractive software. Withdrawal terms are relatively fast and generally this room leaves a good impression.

Carbonpoker offers a great welcome bonus: 200% up to $5,000

Deposit/Withdrawal options: Western Union (not sure), checks for US players. For non-US players: EntraPay, Skrill, Visa/Mastercard, Neteller, bank wire.

Personally I have an account there and my experience with Carbonpoker was positive.

    Carbon Poker

I received a fun email last night from Carbon Poker.

    Hi Shane,
CarbonPoker has decided to remove rakeback entirely as of January 31st, 11:59 PM EST. All players will be transferred from the rakeback program to the VIP program.

This change enables us to offer larger and more beneficial bonuses and ultimately allows for an improved distribution of bonuses to our players.

Players can receive similar benefits and rewards as they would have with the rakeback program through our evolving VIP program. Removal of rakeback applies to all existing and new players. Please note that VIP points earned by players in the rakeback program are not transferable.

Smells like a cash grab to me. Any thoughts??? Now might be a good time to cash out what you have on there.....if you can.

I've got some statements from CarbonPoker officials:

After being able to digest this for a while, we believe that moving away from rakeback, to an improved VIP program, is the best way to build and improve the overall poker ecology of our network.

While we understand that many people who currently receive rakeback will not feel the same way, we are taking these steps now to secure the longevity of the network, and to put ourselves in a position to offer more rewards, more evenly distrobuted across the entire playerbase on the network.

We believe wholeheartedly that it is the best option for all our players, and are excited about what is to come.

Once I get the go ahead, I will post up the VIP program changes right away. A players ability to earn will be solely dependant on their play. Rewarding players in this way will allow us to offer more promotions, higher in value, which will benefit everyone and more evenly distribute the benefits across the playerbase.

Most of the industries largest poker sites reward players in this way, with only us (and a small remaining few), still to offer rakeback as a rewards structure.

It is an outdated framework, and as I have said, stand by the decision totally.

I understand that some players who will now be earning less based on their play, may look to move some, or all, of their volume of play to one of those competing sites that will continue to offer high, pure rakeback style rewards. While we are most definitely not trying to make playing with us prohibitive for our loyal customers, I am confident that our VIP program (combined with added promotions and bonuses, etc), will be able to offer competitive rewards to all player, and 'once the dust settles', that things will even out.

    Ryan
