I was short stacked in an $11 SNG today and I picked up Aces. I push, get called by 2 people. They check it down and I end up losing. One of the callers had pocket 7s.
Board looked like this:
9c 8s 2c 5h 6d
Which would make the hundredth time today in which my best hand got rivered in a stupid way. I can take it if he hits his set. 4 cards to a dumb straight is enough to send me through my roof......![]()

This one really hurt...
I was short-stacked in the small blind and picked up pocket aces. Everyone folded all the way around, so it seemed to be the perfect time for me to go all in with no hand at all. I was very happy when my big-stacked opponent called my all-in with K-3 offsuit.
The first card was good, and I knew the only way I could lose then would be runner - runner - runner - runner. So............guess what the next four cards were.![]()

Were these hands in different tournaments?
Also, since when did pocket Aces become your bane? Everybody knows your unlucky hand is pocket Kings....
We must believe in luck. For how else can we explain the success of those we don't like.

Here's a fun video with a lot of bad beats shown in rapid succession set to music. The beats start out pretty typical, but get worse and worse. It's very possible that I got the link from someone here in the past. So I apologize in advance if someone else shared it first. But still fun to watch on occasion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wrGU75gzk8 If Scott were good at video editing, he probably could have outdone this though, except for maybe the last beat.

Check out how I went out of Tournament A tonight, on the bubble, with all the money in on the flop...

These kinds of hands are what keep me tilting. I haven't been playing well at all lately. Running bad, turns into bad play, breeds more bad luck, causing more bad play....
To break out of this, I've tried to go back to the basics, and then something like this happens... Not sure what the guy was thinking as I hadn't played many hands. Well, I guess his cards were suited....

Here is a pretty sick one that happened to me today on Full Tilt. I was dropped down to 100nl trying to make a couple bucks during my ironman freeroll.

"You have it in your power to turn a bad-beat around simply by realizing this simple truth: The more bad beats you encounter, the luckier you are. It's a sign that you are playing against opponents who continually take the worst of it, and if you can't beat someone who always takes the worst of it, you can't beat anyone"

Sorry - bad beats. What I want to know is how do you get AA so often Scott? I seem to get the once a month and I am playing online everyday and 3 or 4 times a week live. I guess that is one way to avoid the beat - lol
