Out of money on Full Tilt?

Thought I would share my rise from the ashes story on Full Tilt.

I have not put money into Full Tilt since 2006. Although I haven't had great success there, I had managed to play for a couple of years by basically breaking even. If my account got low, I would go to a cash table and push it back to $100 or so and then go back to small tourneys for entertainment. My account ran from $50 to $250 all that time.

Recently, I donated the last $50 I had at the cash table and had a $0 balance in my account.

Here's what I did. Using my Full Tilt points, I signed up for a 9 person, 600 FTP, winner take all SNG. The prize was a $26 token.

After winning that, I took the $26 token and signed up for a 45 person SNG. Even though I played like crap at the end, I still finished 4th for something over $100. All told, it was only about three hours work.

I know some of you are very familiar with Full Tilt Points, but I had been ignoring them for years. So next time you take your account to zero, you might want to try this way of replenishing rather than actually putting cash in. I'm not really sure what else those points are good for to be honest.

I'm with Chad. Anytime I run out of money, I do the same thing. Sounds like without as high success level as you though

BUT, it is a good substitute for money for awhile.

One I would recommend is the 100 FTP Poker After Dark Round Two. It's every Monday, Wednesday at 10:05pm and also on Saturdays I think at 3:15....

The top 9 go on to the finals. Some of you might remember the night at Scott's about a month ago when I was finishing up a tourny via laptop. That was the one....I went out 24th. Absolutely aggravating, but again, it cost me 100 points and a couple hours for a shot at it. Usually about 1800+ people enter those, so I know it's a long shot, but worth a try.

There are also a number of 275 point ones that can get you into the Daily Double or Midnight Madness too.

Thanks for the tip Chad, I have a similar lack of success on FT, (in fact worse) and have never used the points for anything. I'll have to try that, and hope I can make it work as well as you did.

I cant seem to win online. I dont know what it is. I have never suffered the amount of suckouts playing live as I have online. I understand that you play many more hands online and thus will take some bad beats but its insane the things I've seen on there. I put $100 on FT and broke even for a while and then went broke. I chalked it up to being my first time playing online and thought that I had figured some things out. I had my brother transfer $50 so I could play again. I ran that $50 up to about $450 in 2 weeks. Then I crashed and burned. Every single time I got my money in with the best hand I got sucked out on. Seriously, every time. And I lost it all in 2 days. I havent done anything since. I really started to think that online was a scam. I am a fairly successfull live player. I have won 3 tourneys of 50+ people with the biggest payout being $3000. I play the cahrity events here in the dayton area and they do a point system with the sit and gos. Have most points at the end of the two weeks and you win a trophy and a $500 bonus. I have won this once and placed 2nd once. The time I won I played probably 16 $120 sit and gos in the two weekends and placed 1st or 2nd in 12 of them. I play $1/$2 no limit regularly and win a good portion of the time. But online, Im a total fish. I dont get it. I dont understand what I am doing wrong online. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. How different is your online strategy from your live strategy?

Im not that qualified to give you the answer you seek as I have only played live once (my jj got beat by q5 offsuit??? just before the bubble). But live play everyone has a lot more time to think about their hand. Gut instinct is taken away and I believe this makes everyone a lot tighter. Plus the fact when your chips have gone you have to leave and drive home etc. Online you can just pop into another game. I dont know how you play but I think you probably play too tight online. You say you always go out with the best hand but if you have more chips than your opponent you DONT go out. I have never redeposited on any site I have played on(I did lose 120 dollars on Sun Poker before withdrawing my remaining 80) and I like to think Im an aggresive player. You obviously know how to play the game and my advice to you is play more aggresively, attacking people with your good hands and simply mucking your bad ones. Also if you are a tighter player never enter turbo games and look for double stack tourneys, these will be more suited to your game.(some very good double stack sngs on ipoker network) If your not a tight player Im sorry for wasting you time, Alan.
