Bet sizing is something that separates begginners from good regs.
Lets say you are going to continuation bet on a pot when you plan on folding if you get called and 4 units are in the pot.
If you bet 4 units on the cbet you need to take it down 50% of the time to break even.
If you bet 3 units you only need to win 43% (3/7) of the time to break even.
If you bet 2 units you only need to win 33% (1/3) of the time to break even.
Balancing your cbets and value bets is hugely important. The act of the bet (assuming it is not something rediculous like 1/10 of the pot) is often more important than the actual size of the bet.
