Talking My experience with Chipless Wonder from a Noob's eyes.

So tonight I sat down and took some time to look into Scott's play at a final table of a $26 45 man SnG. He started out about middle of the pack and took a bad hit early to go down to barely 4-5 blinds. From this he pushed a couple times at some key points to make it to the big stack with 31k in chips. Scott ended up coming in 3rd eventually and took decent cash.

Coming into this railing session I am a pretty new guy to online poker. Sitting with Scott i was able to pick up some very useful things to use in my game.
(Bare with me some of the things I have picked up on really make me sound like a complete noob lol)

With online poker I really never thought too much into evaluating the players at the table. I never thought there was much you could tell that would help you. Before I mostly thought you played your hand and that was really it. Railing with Scott I learned you can use a lot of what you know or learn in the final table. Using a combination of Sharkscope and what he knew scott was able to tell at the table when would be the best times to push and the best times to do nothing. I know this kind of knowledge will take time to know about your aponants but it makes me realize there really is things you can pick up and learn with the online play.

Another thing I never really thought could be that big of a use but was shown insight to was at showing your cards to show a pattern to use to your advantage. Although Scott didn't necessarily get to use it to his advantage he tried. But doing so he also showed me how it may be used. In showing your cards on some normal raises you can get people to think more into the pattern and next time they see a raise may think more about folding. And also vice verca though Scott didn't have the stack i also saw how this could be used in the opposite ways. Get a couple bluffs in and show your cards the next time you got the nuts may induce a call. This also applied to timing of the bets and folds although I think it would be much harder to gain much advantage from timing but could help if thought out and utilized well.

In the end Scott came in 3rd and it seemed like it was a pretty fast FT but i feel i came away from it with a lot more insight into some things that could be used with online poker. I can't wait to use some of this come January when I plan on reloading and getting back in, in the $5 SnG's. And I can't wait for the holidays to be over already .

Dave fantastic post... I am happy you gained some insight into online poker (albeit from a mad man) and I hope it helps you play at a higher level come January.. Keep us updated on your progress..

Scott is an excellent teacher and to think he had $0 dollars in his account after endless reloads in March of this year (08) and now he has a bankroll of over 19k (mainly from playing sngs)... This is an unreal accomplishment by Scott but a testament that ANY one can make money online if they put their mind to it.. Scott has worked hard to make himself a better player and the results are piling up...

With that being said he along with countless others at this forum will do anything they can to help others play better poker.. Just ask... We have some of the best in the game both online and live..

I used to be pretty decent live in my old local area but sence I have moved to columbus about 3 years ago I have not seen a single live game. Which is what brought me to the site. (looking for more info on the gemini) With lack of live games I had to get my fix somewhere else. I turned to online and look to improve upon my game as I go. Hopefully this is the first step forward.
