All daily tournaments <100$ in Vegas are like super turbo tournament on fulltilt
The daily tournaments in Bellagio, Ceasar, Venetian are the best ones to play if you don't play big MTTs like Venetian DS, 5 Diamond World Classic, WSOP Circuit, WPT, WSOP. Bellagio daily tournaments are like 45m (340$-550$ bi - 35m-40m levels), Ceasar - 90m (150$-225$ bi - 30m levels), Venetian-180m (120$ bi- 30m level).

def shipable without playing postflop.
food? you have to try Rao's at Caesar's. although it might be little $$ it is worth it.
otherwise, cypress garden food court at caesar's (stuffed bbq baked potato ftw)or grand lux cafe in venetian. If you like Sushi, I highly recommend going to this place called Naked Fish, like 10 min away from strip, instead of going to expensive hotel sushi bars.

"You have it in your power to turn a bad-beat around simply by realizing this simple truth: The more bad beats you encounter, the luckier you are. It's a sign that you are playing against opponents who continually take the worst of it, and if you can't beat someone who always takes the worst of it, you can't beat anyone"

Everyone is pretty spot on with tournament suggestions (Venetian is my fav).
You must see Love @ the Mirage for entertainment. Also Freemont (sp?) is cool and perfect if your looking for a night away from the strip (everything is cheaper...tables, drinks, etc etc).
Other than that just make sure you check out all the other crazy hotels. Again, Venetian is unreal. I don't know if this is your first time, but the city is completely overwhelming and over the top in every way. Look forward to the trip report!
The topless pools are the nuts.
In Europe, topless is quite standard actually.
I will be coming to Vegas for 3 to 6 months starting the end of February and staying at my gf's house in north west LV. I was planning on playing a bit at the neighbourhood casino(s) in the area. Any idea on action at these compared to the ones on the strip? I would guess it's less infested with tourists but should still be very beatable.
As far as tournaments go, it doesn't have to be a 100% bad thing that they are all turbo as online players tend to also have an edge in this aspect of poker. I do understand the variance issue, but I'd rather play a weekly mtt higher variance mtt for 50$ rather than a lower variance one for $300.
Cheers!
I love to play poker in home games but I am really an avid Blackjack Player when I visit a casino. Did you know Blackjack is the most popular casino card game.... and also the one casino game with the smallest house edge/advantage! The house advantage for Blackjack (standard rules) is only about .5% - yes only 1/2 percent. But every year people lose thousands of dollars at the Blackjack Tables making BJ one of the most profitable tables games in a casino. Strange isn't it? The smallest house edge and also most profitable for the house. The reasons most people consistently lose money at Blackjack and bust is: 1) They don't have enough chips to sustain a few bad runs. 2) They bet more than 10% of their chip stack often 3) Don't follow basic strategy rules.
Important Notes:
1) Always ALWAYS! look for a Blackjack Table that pays 3 to 2 on blackjacks and have standard rules for doubling down, splitting, etc.
2) Casinos now offer many one deck and two deck games to intice you. You think wow! it's much easier to keep track of the good cards when only one deck or two decks are being used! Although it sounds appealing, it's really a bad deal! Here are two main reasons why:
a) Most all 1 and 2 deck games only pay 6 to 5 on blackjacks
instead of 3 to 2.
b) Your are limited on splitting and doubling downs.
These two factors alone can take a small .5% house edge up to over a 1% house edge. Some other strange rules at these tables can take the house advantage up to over 2%. Stastically you are better off to play a 6 deck Blackjack game with standard rules vs a one or two deck game with modified rules.
3) Automatic Shuffling Machines. If you believe in watching or counting cards then these machines are your enemy. They simpy spit out random cards that are always being shuffled. I have played these tables for fun and keep in mind that I am just playing for fun. I would never want to play any medium to large bets at these tables.
3 simple tips that are effective:
1) Memorize and play basic strategy.
2) Never bet more than 10% of your chip stack. If you have 20 chips, then bet 1 chip (minimum bet) about 65 - 70% and two chips 30 - 35% of the time. Your minimum bet should be 5% of your buy in. This may seem somewhat boring but you will find you will stay at the table much longer than the other 95% of players that come and go when they lose all thier money!
3) Leave the table when your 50% to 100% up. Ok, I know this takes away the fun of making that "Big Killing" at The Blackjack Table. But trust me - you will have more winning sessions than sessions where you will bust!
Good Luck!
