Post ISOP #3 POTS (Player Of The Series)

The ISOP POTS (Player Of The Series) will be deduced in the usual way...

the square root of the number of players playing multiplied by the square root of the buy-in (not inc. rake but inc. bounty) multiplied by the points assigned to the place that the player comes.

Those points will be assigned as follows:

    - The top 50% of the field will receive points
    - If the field contains an odd number, the number is rounded up but the player placing in the bottom points spot gets has his/her points halved

    For 27 players or more
    1st - 30
    2nd - 22
    3rd - 16
    4th - 12
    5th - 9
    6th - 7
    7th - 5
    8th - 4
    9th - 3
    10th-12th - 2
    13th or worse - 1

    For 18-26 players
    1st - 25
    2nd - 18
    3rd - 13
    4th - 10
    5th - 8
    6th - 6
    7th - 4
    8th - 3
    9th - 2
    10th or worse - 1

    For 14-17 players
    1st - 21
    2nd - 15
    3rd - 11
    4th - 8
    5th - 6
    6th - 4
    7th - 3
    8th or worse - 2

    For 10-13 players
    1st - 18
    2nd - 13
    3rd - 9
    4th - 6
    5th - 4
    6th or worse - 2

    For 8-9 players
    1st - 16
    2nd - 10
    3rd - 6
    4th or worse - 3

    For 6-7 players
    1st - 15
    2nd - 9
    3rd or worse - 5

    For 4-5 players
    1st - 14
    2nd or worse - 7

    - If there is a tie as in the case of a shootout format, the points for each place will be shared pro rata between the players finishing in the same position - ie. joint 3rd in a heads-up shootout will get 11.5 points each (13+10 divided by 2), joint 5th in a heads-up shootout will get 5.25 points (8+6+4+3 divided by 4), joint 7th in a 6-handed shootout will get 2 points each (4+3+2+1+1+1 divided by 6)

    - In the case of the rebuy tournament, the buy-in will be considered the average by-in (ie. the total prize pool divided by the number of players)

    - if in the case of a heads-up tournament, a player receives a bye thru round 1, they will only receive a pro-rated proportion of the pts earned.

eg if a player gets a bye thru round one and wins by winning three matches instead of 4, they will get 3/4 of the points

If that first round bye puts a player in a share of the points spots, they will not receive points and the points will be distributed evenly between only the players who have earned their way into that round.

Also, the ISOP POTS Wager will be taking place in the same manner as previous series:

    Minimum bet: $25
    Maximum bet: $200

If you win, you will win the amount of your wager from each player who has matched your bet or as much as they have bet if the amount is less. A sidepot will be generated by any unmatched sums to be paid to the highest ranking player left in the wager, distributed in the same way as the main pot. If there is still a side pot, then the process is repeated until all monies are paid out.

    To illustrate this system:

Say Dr Fill Good, Chipless Wonder, Devilfish73 and myself are the only players in the bet. Dr Fill and I both bet 200, Chipless bets 100 and Devilfish73 bets 50. If the finishing order between us is Chipless 1st, Dr Fill 2nd, Devilfish73 3rd and me 4th:

chipless gets 350 (100 from Fill and myself, 50 from Devilfish73 and his own 100 back)
fill gets 200 (100 from me and 100 of his 200 back)

Watch these spaces as the Wager Thread will be up over the weekend!

Anyone planning on playing a large amount of events should at the very least put 25 on themselves. I know stinky budz probably felt like a bit of a fool last series when he owned that POTS rankings. Everyone come and make your stand.
