A9 Call or Fold

I was playing in my own home game last night when blinds were 200- 400 i have about 6600 in chips. We are 7 handed when from the cutoff Scott cook raised to 1200.(he has about 7900) This was the third time in a row Scott raised from the cutoff so from the button i look down at :As: :9s: and decide scott range in wide enough that i probably have the best hand so i just call because i am not sure

the flop comes :9h: :7s: :2c:

scott think then checks so i bet 1500 chips hoping he calls with a middle pair that did not set up and but scott ask me how much i have back and i tell him around 4000 he thinks then says you can not fold then puts me all in

I really would love for the regulars who answer like Dave,Stacy, Dave, Derek and bill as always but i would also like to hear from Dana, Ben, Murphy , and chuck to give it a shot

I think it would be hard to fold this hand here but for some reason I think Scott might have a big hand and he knows you should call.. I think I let this go.. Scott knows that he has consistently raised from the cut off and he knows he will start to receive action so I think he came in w/ a made hand... I also know Scott likes to cbet and he checked.. So I would put Scott on KK, QQ,JJ and maybe 1010.. I know as always that Scott could also have nothing here and maybe AK.. But I would possibly lay this hand down knowing how good you are at this portion of the game and can better pick your spot.. But if you call it also makes sense since you called preflop for a reason and hit pretty much a dream flop... Its a tough one...

I'm thinking 2 opposite things here, both stemming from the fact that Scott almost always CBs. He did not here. Because of that, I would have really liked to see you check the flop and see if you improve on the turn, maybe picking up a flush draw if you don't hit 2-pair or trips. That being said:

1) He has a weak hand. If you have an overpair to a board like this, or even flopped a set, and you always CB, why would you NOT when you have a made hand or a monster? It makes no sense. If I am convinced of this, I would call. He also knows that if you hit this board, it's most likely not a super strong hand (a set is the best you can hope for). He might put you on something like 9-10, 8-6s/10-8s.

2) He has a made hand, and his check was to in fact induce a bet so he could check-raise. I just don't see this as a plausible explanation because that raggedy flop usually doesn't hit someone that strongly, so it's unlikely that someone will bet at it unless they hit it pretty hard. Maybe he thinks you're aggressive enough that you'll bet whether or not you hit it if he checked.

To me, his play just doesn't make sense with a strong hand. At the same time, I still have plenty of chips left if I fold. I think I'd actually have to be there to make a better decision, but as it is I think I would call.

I fold or raise preflop, based on your reads I raise.

On the flop, as played, I fold to the check-raise all-in. I put Scott on either KK 810, or 79. I think he cbets hand that are not this strong on the flop (TT, JJ) and stays trappy on the dry board with larger hands (99,77,22).

Depending on current history this game, I seriously doubt Scott is on complete air or a weaker made hand. I think the only non air hand you might beat here is K9. With no 3bet from you preflop, it is pretty hopeless to try and create a range for him so I fold.

i made the call in this hand but was not sure if it was the right call in this spot. It turn out Scott had :Jh::10d: and was on a semi bluff. i actually like scotts play with this hand. I might fold and if i do not he has some outs. My hand was able to hold. I think to alot of people who make this move i lay it down but i for some reason never believe Scott.

I made several mistakes in this hand, and George capitalized on my mistakes as usual...

1. I didn't realize I had raised three consecutive times from the cutoff, or I certainly wouldn't have done it a third time without a premium starting hand.

2. I shouldn't have raised with such shitty cards and George behind me.

3. I should have simply folded once George took the betting lead.

4. I shouldn't have attempted such a fancy play in such a simple situation.
