HU vs. Very Good Regular

I don't have too many reads except that this is a very good player, DADuhWEEwah. He normally plays 10-20 but he agreed to play me at 3-6. He is very solid. He has caught me overbet bluffing the river once so he knows I play my hands in unorthodox ways a lot. My image is very very bluffy i think. His 3bet was only 8% for the match. He seemed to be a very good hand reader and very tricky very balanced player capable of making some very thin calls and bluffs. The first hand I was unsure how much to bet on the river, and the second hand i was unsure what the correct play was on just about every street. I 4bet planning on folding to a 5bet which I am not sure what anybody thinks of that. I'm thinking I shoulda folded the turn though. Also, I am wondering if turning my hand into a bluff on the river is a good play if we were a little deeper.

First hand I would have bet 1/2 the pot PoF. Not much diffrence, but it keeps the pot smaller as you try to catch your straight. I prob check back the turn. You probably got him with your river Q but I'm happy to check and take down a $400 pot. If you bet and he raises, you have a tough decision in my mind.

On the 2nd hand, my intial thought is to reraise the turn. If he 4-bets you, you can asume he has 2 pair or AT.

Depending on how attached you are to your stack, I would probably 4-bet him strong pf and try to take it down right there.

2 hand. river is total read and flow of the match dependent. depending of how much he thin he valuebets, bluff frequencies, how wide or how narrow is his range to 3bet/call. on the flop ill prefer a bet then a cbeh, puts villain in a very bad spot, ure hand doesnt get faced up and ure def no getting c/r frequently, not at all. PF u CANT 4bet fold, lol thats ridiculous... AK is too strong to turn into a bluff then fold... if ure gonna do that is better to flat the 3bet then to 4bet/fold, and the 4bet/fold pure bluffs.

the river on the 1 hand depends on how much u want to balance ure range, cuz its clear that u have something when u bet/call the flop and bet the turn. the river hits some OESDs, so if he has a one paired hand he knows he can only beat a busted FD... hmmmmm i think checking behind is fine, very thin....

Hand 1: I like how you played it the whole way. I think you need to check the river though, since you (kind of) hit your hand. Villain could have something like KQ and be in check-call mode.

Hand 2: With the stacks, I would like to see you 4-bet more PF, to something like 250. Then c-bet for ~350 (this amount would depend on how you had been sizing your PoF bets). If he calls, you're in check-fold mode... unless this turn and river pop off. I could easily put him on AK as well the way the hand played out, but he could also have any PP JJ-AA (AA and KK less likely based on your holdings, but with the way the hand played out it's possible).

Hand 1: I check river back. I tihnk you're getting check/called by JT a ton here. But, given that you think he thinks you bluff a lot, this could easily be a trap.

Hand 2: I think a bigger 4bet is in order. He seems to think he can outplay you PoF, so take some of that edge away by getting more in PF w/ a top 3 hand. River is probably a fold tbh. I don't see him showing up w/ AQ here very often, especially because he thinks you bluff a lot (he owuld check/call). I think he has JJ/QQ a ton, possibly even TT.

LOL, but I think its worthwhile. If you are able to play 10/20 reg HU for decent session, I believe that just by analyzing how hands went down, you will be able to learn and measure yourself up to those players. I see it as a 600$ lesson, but if you win, +ev everywhere. confidence factor. Ofcourse, maybe once in a while, but not too many times

Exactly. I usually bumhunt. I remember 1 hand I knew he had a very weak made hand after betting the flop and betting the turn on a k65qk type board or something like that, and I overbet the river 3x pot and he timed down, chatted "you have nothing" and then called with just a pair of 8s. I am just trying to get better since I am sick of having to sit out at a 6max table until a couple of fish sit down. We also talked a lot about the hands during the match and after the match. I am going to look through the session, figure out how he exploited my leaks as the match went on, and try to use it to improve. I ran good at the beginning and managed to only be stuck 1-buyin when I left.

You must have not read the hand histories because it clearly shows I'm a terrible player.
