small suited connectors, full ring 2/5NL

Okay, so I’m playing 2/5 at Argosy and have rollercoasted the entire night. I have about $700 in front of me and am down $300 for the day. I look down utg+1 and limp . The villain to my left (V1) is TAG and limps behind me. The mp villain (V2), a new player to the table and somewhat TAG, bumps to $30. The sb calls and so does the bb villain (V3), a LAG player stuck for about $800 at this point.

    Pot to the flop= $150

    Flop comes

    V3 leads for $80.

I know this player could and would make this play with any two, and is more likely on a draw. I raise to $200.

V1 to my left immediately pushes in for an additional $177 over my raise. V2, V3 and the rest of the field folds to me. Pot is ~$807.

    Hero...?

I admit up front that I have very little experience playing cash games...

With that disclaimer out of the way, I put V2 on a set of eights, set of jacks, the nut flush draw or a middle flush. The only hand I'm afraid of here is the middle flush. He clearly doesn't have the nut flush. And I'm getting 4:5 on my money.

I definitely call here. How much money did I lose?

Well you are in a must call situation now. IF youre beat youre beat but no way can you lay down a flush, albeit a baby flush, when you are gettin better than 4:1 on your money. If he has a bigger flush, and it feels like he might, then you tip your cap and move on. No way Im folding at this point.

For starters, you don't play 5c3c in a raised pot to fold when you flop a flush. Sounds like your V2 raised preflop w/ AA, KK, or QQ to $30. I imagine that V3 spiked the J but had to fold after his initial stab at the pot was raised and reraised. V2 is pained after this flop realizing that his overpair was counterfeit by some donkey's five high flush but instead of folding like a grinder decides he still has 7 outs to his flush draw and decides to gamble.

The fact that you posted this hand leads me to believe he spikes his card on the turn or the river and adds to your increasingly frustrating day.

Thanks, guys, good feedback. I actually just realized that I made a mistake in writing it up. It was v1 who ended up pushing in. This might change your read on the situation. When he made the move, I actually immediately thought I was beat. ZBut by the time it folded to me, I thought to myself he could be pushing with trips or an overpair. It wasn't all that much more, and I convinced myself to call. He turned over and that was that. What made it even worse is that he grabbed some racks and bolted two hands later. I hate hit-n-run mofos.

And yeah, Ryan, it was a very frustrating day for me. I ended up hanging around for another hour or so, during which I bet into the nuts and second nuts on two different occasions to undo any stackbuilding I had been able to do. It ended up being my worst cash session I've ever played at ANY limit, finishing down 2 buyins.

That does change my read a little. Since now the all in is coming from an initial limper rather than an initial raiser, I could put him on a wider variety of hands including a stronger flush.

That being said I still make my crying call and take it in the shorts just like you. Calling here is still the appropriate action unless you have a very player specific read on the person.

Anyways, you still had outs to the runner, runner back door straight flush!!!!!!!!!!

And now we know why Scott doesn't play cash games.

Yep, I still make the call as well. It doesnt change the fact that you are getting huge odds on your money and you have a made flush. Although it felt like you were beat you have to make the call.

thanks, fellas... so i guess the new question is, do you make the flop raise, and if so, do you make the same size that i did, given reads? i don't usually second-guess my play, but as i mentioned, it was one of the worst sessions i've ever had and i'm just trying to wrap my head around where i could have made improvements...

though, i'd guess that NOT bluffing into the nuts and second nuts would also have helped...
