    Venetian Cash Donkey Farm

Ok, playing 1/2 NLHE at Venetian this evening. Starts off real well. I win an $80 pot the moment I sit down with BillBell suited, then a win a $120 pot on KK, when a guy tries to bluff me on the river and I make a crying call and it was the right read, as usual.......then same guy and I get into THIS shitstorm.

I look down at and I'm on the button.

Guy 3 positions before me raises to $12 and gets another caller before me, and then I call.

    Flop:

Pretty nice flop. Original raiser puts $25 out in first position. Next guy folds. I have seen "raiser" play complete crap all night and try to get me off winning hands, unsuccessfully.

So I decide it's time to play like a man, if you will LOL. I re-raise him to $75 with top pair and flush draw, KNOWING full well I am good. Was not one doubt in my mind. Not only that, but when a woman re-raises, she always means business, right? She's NEVER bluffing!! As Dana says, we always have aces. LOL

He mills for only about 10 seconds and then flat calls. He only has about $59behind here......

    Turn is:

He goes all in and at this point, I'm like "ok, does he really have a 9 when he raised in the first place.......I've seen him raise with dumb stuff, so it's possible, but I still think I'm good, I have another diamond to come possibly and the money in the pot is right for the call (opinions welcome here - what do you think?)

I call his all in and flip over my top pair, flush draw. He waits until the river comes a

Then he flips his cards as he says, "I have the boat."

    He shows:

So...........in sum. He raises pre-flop with garbage. Bets out with middle pair (I'm fine with that).......calls my re-raise with only middle pair and absolutely no draw whatsoever (NOT fine with that) and gets lucky on the turn.

My question is........do you call the raise initially with j10 suited and do YOU make the call on the turn? Why or why not? I'd love to hear, because I was steaming. It did NOT bust me (I had $450 at the start of the hand, but it DID cost me more chips than I would have liked and I just keep wondering how I do things differently).

He did get lucky on the turn.....

But with only $59 to call his all-in with about $190 in the pot, I think this is an easy call. Yes, he could have had (and did) have a 9, but you still had the flush draw and another J gives you a higher full house.

You pushed him on the flop, and like an idiot, he called with middle pair and no draw. You WANT that call.....
We must believe in luck. For how else can we explain the success of those we don't like.

Let's rephrase that........anyone who does NOT have my kind of luck wants that call........not me..........that is 5 times this week that my best hand on the flop got royally screwed on the turn for all my money. I'm getting sick of it. Shit, I feel like I'm playing on Full Tilt, except I actually have to LISTEN to people's useless chatter instead of just read it! LOL

I think you played the hand really well. I would have called with the 10 j suited, reraised with it on the flop then called the all in on the turn. Playing players like the one you have described I dont think there is a time in this hand that you can get away from it. I like your raise on the flop instead of the push because you are drawing him in with his worst hand, pushing may have made him fold. Although if you did push I guess you would have won the pot. I sometimes get in trouble gambling with overly aggressive or bad players but in the long run it pays off, you have your read on them and you have to go with it.

I'm not so sure about that........I mean if he's willing to flat and then put the rest in, I doubt he's going away if I shove on the flop either. Just the kind of players you find late on a Friday night.

And Dana is right, I should WANT that call and I should get his freakin money. But I never seem to. I have every good read and instinct in the world and it never pays off. It just gets old.

    Thank you for the commentary

First off I really hate the fact that some people don't turn over their cards when they are all in. It pisses me off more when they push and are called and still don't turn them over. I see a good bit of this at Gemini so I pay close attention and I don't turn mine over if they don't. Just an FYI...

Here is my input and its not that you did anything wrong and he also got pretty damn lucky on the turn and river.

Hear me out I have to work at this like many of us do...

Don't let your emotions ever get the best of you especially when you know you are a better player than the player(s) involved in the hand. I think it clouds judgement and it opens up for flaws in your game. It also coinsides-sp* with keeping the pot small and that is a big factor in cash game poker also. When you think about it you made the pot bigger for the dumb ass to suck out more money from you. You were up and doing well from what you stated...women have to be twice as good and sharp as men they get called down due to the male ego not wanting to be bluffed by a woman. I saw it time and time again in WSOP and actually watched my future wife Carolyn Cooper get sent to the rail by some dumb ass that over played his small pocket pair (6's) against her (K's) of course. We were suppose to have dinner true story...I've never seen such a beautiful creature use so many @#$%! words!

I hope yall see and understand my point of view here?!

I do understand your point of view. I should have just called the $25 bet and then when I see a 9 on the turn, it's much easier to just go away and save it up for a better hand.

And LOL to the cursing of your future wife........I think it's hilarious when men are surprised to hear us curse. Just tonight, the dealer thought it was hilarious to see me steaming over a hand and say "nice f***in card on the river, are you for real?" He was so amused by my trucker mouth antics!!

I know it's not very ladylike, but sometimes there is just no other way to express anger, short of planting my fist in the face of the donkeys.

And it's cool anyway........tonight I came out on top after playing less than 2 hours, so I can't complain!

Stacey, you played this hand perfectly imo. Good play to raise him on the flop, and you have to call on the turn, even if he turns his hand face up right after he bets (you're getting better than 4:1 on a call, and you're a little less than a 3:1 dog). The villain played this hand terribly and got rewarded, nothing you can do.

    Any two cards...

I agree with Derek. In the long-term, you will come out way ahead playing this way.
