    Question Gemini

I was looking for a little insight into this lovely place in Columbus many seem to play at. The tournaments are a little higher buyin than I would like to play, and paying $25 to sit at a low stakes cash game seems a little crazy to me also.

I guess my main question is: is it worth the money?

Things that I'd be curious about: how many tables? how crowded is it usually? how soft are the games? (Supposedly) there's free food/drink, what do they offer for my money? how nice are the tables and chips?

What I don't want to do is pay $25 to become a member, $25 to play in a cash game and walk in to find out I'm not that impressed. I understand that likely wouldn't be the case since so many people seem to play there, but I would love some direct feedback.

    Thanks!

Absolutely play in the cash games... $25 is actually a STEAL to sit and play at a non-raked $1/$2 NL cash game...

For example, Horseshoe Indiana charges $6/half hour which they collect from each player at the dealer change... this equates to $12/hr...

You can sit at a Gemini cash table for 10 hours for the same $25 charge, however it would cost you $120 over the same time period to play at a Horseshoe table...

At the end of the day, if you are a winning player, anything is better than a rake where they skim money off of every friggin pot you win!!!

While not casino quality tables, chips, etc, I would say there is nothing objectionable about the facilities and amenities at all... It is a very comfortable place to play and you can always expect to have 3 or 4 nice $1/$2 NL cash tables... evenings following tournaments are especially juicy...

I would consider the games as agressive and loose... this can be very frustrating at times as you will take the occasional bad beat from a terrible play but overall it can be very profitable... you certainly have to overbet to push many of the players off of their draws as many of them make regularly -EV calls and chases...

I say it is worth it to give it a shot!

I concur with most of what Ryan has already stated. The tournaments are borderline Turbo (15 min blinds, aggressive structure), especially mondays when they have 80-90 avg players in the game.

As for the cash, it's hit and miss like most places. It's at times the closest thing to a online game, live, when it comes to bad beats. This is mainly do to ALOT of chasing..

The place itself is decent, but it's starting to get worn down. I think it mainly is do to the fact that they are moving soon so the upkeep hasn't been so important. They will be moving down 161 across from the Columbus Square (where the bowling palace is).

Action wise the best days to go are (in this order) Mondays, Fridays(except for the one friday a month when they have the new albany game) , Saturdays, Sundays, Thursdays, Wednesdays, Tuesdays. And like they said it is well worth the $25 use fee! It is by no mean a "low stakes" cash game.. .it is $1/$3 no limit with a $100 min and $300 max to start and then from then on the maximum buyin is 70% of the big stack....so the game plays bigger than most and not only would you be paying $12 an hour at a place like louisville but you would also have at least a $1 coming out of the game for tips and at the gemini you use seperate chips to tip so there is no money coming off the table making it that much better.

Im headin up there right now!
"You have it in your power to turn a bad-beat around simply by realizing this simple truth: The more bad beats you encounter, the luckier you are. It's a sign that you are playing against opponents who continually take the worst of it, and if you can't beat someone who always takes the worst of it, you can't beat anyone"

So the $25 fee is for every day you go play?

yes you pay $25 membership fee per year (but the day you pay your yearly fee they wave that day's use fee) and then you pay $25 every time you come

Gemini is the best thing that happened to me playing poker. When you play, you need to be ready to take some bad beats and not get tilted. You can play good solid poker and be a consistent winner, or loosen up and have some really big days.

    Any two cards...
