Scott Updates---WSOP Main Event

Hi All -

I heard from Scott at 2:58 EST, and he was seated at his table, ready to go. He asked me to report that he has $20,000 in chips, the blinds are 50/100, and he has yet to play a hand! :)

Of course, since he had two minutes and counting before the cards start flying, that's a pretty good sign... He's going to report out at every break - or after every two hours of play, and I'll keep the forum posted!

Visualize him with a Gi-normous Chip Stack!! Let's send him whatever support and good luck that's out there in our Bad Beat Group!

Okay... Break 1

After two hours of play, Scott has played 15 hands, but only took down 4 of them. He feels that he's played 14 of the 15 hands extremely well.

However, he's down to $10,800. Think Big STACKS!! He needs the support!

We're pulling for you Scott!!!

Okay..... Just finished level 2.....

He started with $10,800 and played 10 hands. He won 8 of them!! Unfortunately, one of the two hands, he doubled somebody up when the villain hit a set of 6s on the flop and our hero had pocket 10s.

His starting stack for Level 3 will be $17,900 - blinds 75/150. He has 56 or 57 BB, and feels much stronger than the last update.

I'll post again in two hours.....

Scott now has 17,100 in chips. Heading into the 150/300 level.
He played 10 hands in level 2, and won 8 of them. He says, unfortunately one of the 2 hands he lost, he doubled someone up.

But, he says he is happy with the increased stack since level 1.

But in all seriousness, I think I speak for everybody (except of course for anyone who hates you LOL) when I say that we are extremely proud of you for taking the stab at it. You entered the WSOP MAIN EVENT. That is huge. None of the rest of us did it!!

It was a learning experience, and you had everybody's support, and you will when you take the shot again next year.

Still proud of you, fearless ring leader.

Id still call this one hell of a successfull year at the wsop for ya...

I feel like I let everyone down. To start with 200 big blinds, have two hour levels and not survive more than five hours is pretty pathetic. :(

In the first level, I ran into several situations beyond my control, but managed to maintain 75% of my starting stack. Then for some unknown reason, I decided to bluff away 5,000 chips on the last hand. Bluffing into a guy who flopped the nuts is never a good strategy. :o

In the second level, I played really well, won nearly every pot I played (8 out of 10), and built my stack back up to 23,000 before I decided to double up a short stack (10-10 versus 6-6-6).

In the third level I completely cracked. I have no idea why I decided to push all my chips in with pocket twos on the following board:

There were ~ 3,500 chips in the pot when my opponent in the big blind bet 2,200. I raised all-in for ~ 13,000 more when I still had 50 big blinds left. I put my opponent on a big hand (A-A, K-K or A-K), but thought he would fold all of those to my all-in raise on such a scary board. Instead, he had pocket aces and called instantly.

I know most of the right things to do, but I refused to do them. Instead, I tried to pull off big elaborate bluffs with no hand and no outs. I did play some hands well, but the hands I played stupidly overshadow the others pretty badly.

I'm still mad at myself. :mad:

It will all be good in the end! You took a terrific stab at playing the ME.

Nobody who plays the WSOP main event is a loser in my eyes! Just remember, out of 12,000 runners, almost 11,000 will win the same as you, Scott. I don't care what anybody says, to go deep in this event takes not only a lot of skill, but a HUGH amount of luck. Everything has to go your way even to make the money in this monstrosity, let alone win the dang thing.

There was this creepy man that met me at the airport - he was breathing down my neck as I was standing there waiting for my luggage. He almost got a reprimand until I turned around and it was my Scott. I was quite surprised to see him there, I did not have to say a word it was written all of his cute face. :(

I'm proud of him - he runs with whatever his passion is.

I'll post a picture of him when I get home of the depressing aftermath...laying amongst the flowers. :)

Why wait til you get home, I have a camera adapter at the condo, I'm sure we can hook that up pretty damn quick :p
