Thumbs up Good luck to the ladies!

Just wanted to say good luck to Dana, Stacey and Kim. They're all playing in the W.S.O.P. Ladies Event this weekend.

Good Luck Girls!!!!! Looks like I'm definitely going to be in the minority tomorrow at Bulldogs. Teri and I will have to hold it up for the Ladies. Can't wait to hear how it goes.

    update

    Speaking for myself....

I sat down in a single-table $35 satellite. Winner got $225 in tourny chips (voucher) and $25 cash. Don't ask me why the house is taking $100 in this satellite, that seems absolutely absurd, but whatever.....

I tripled up early when I pushed with ace king and got called by ace queen and king queen and none of us hit a damn thing. So I win

Ended up heads up with Dave and beat him fair and square (don't EVEN let him tell you he let me win.....I'm on the verge of killing him if I hear him say it one more time, even though I know he's joking).

So, after being in the casino for 45 minutes, I had essentially bought in to the WSOP ladies event for a total of $10.

Then, I played 1/2 for about 2 hours and made about $170. I know.....nothing huge, but here I sit in the hotel room........room paid for, dinner paid for, buy in taken care of.....and it's cost me a total of $12.

    I consider that a win!

When I left the casino, Kim and Dana were at the same satellite, so I don't know what their night turned out like, but I'll let them tell their tale.

More tomorrow!! Oh and I talked up the forum like crazy to any person who I felt wasn't a complete donk. So hopefully we get some new members.....if only I had little business cards to hand out at times like these!!

    My WSOP saga

Arrive yesterday around 7:30pm and play the satellite, eat dinner, etc.

So….I decide after dinner I want to play cash. I sit down at 1/2NL and have a VERY friendly and loose table. I am thoroughly enjoying myself, despite not seeing many hands or connecting much with the board. But patience is a virtue and as I found out on this night (and also the next, as you’ll read shortly), sometimes the dots just connect at the right time. I called a small pre-flop raise with pocket 2s. Flop came KK2. Which was gorgeous. 2 hearts on the board. Someone bet out, I flat called, so does other guy. Turn comes 10 of hearts. One guy bets out, the other raises, I raise all in. The first better goes in the tank and says “I can’t believe my King isn’t good here, but I fold.” I actually was shocked he folded, being how loose the table had been. The girl calls, and shows a nut flush, which of course was stomped by my flopped boat. Beauty. I stay about another hour and leave with $400, up $200 on my buy-in. Happy and tired girl.

Back to Days Inn, where we stayed since Harrahs is so effing tight that they wouldn’t cut us any kind of deal on a room….nevermind that we stay at their properties 4-5 times a year and lose god knows how much money there……can’t spot us a room in the Indiana dump for one stupid night. It was going to cost us $299. No way was that happening.

Went to sleep at about 2:30am. Thinking I can squeeze in a solid near 8 hours before getting up and getting back for the WSOP ladies event. I was already pre-registered, because I won a $35 single table satellite that won me my buy in. Oh, but no chance of that full night of sleep…….because a truckload of boyscouts were staying on our floor……and that combined with paper-thin walls made for a hellish morning. Let’s just say around 7:45, I start hearing people talking and THEN…doors start slamming. After I heard about 3 door slams, I started counting. 25 times I heard a freaking door slam in less than a 10 minute period. I finally smothered myself with 2 pillows…couldn’t breathe and figured suffocation would be a really unglamorous way to go, so I woke up. But I was NOT happy about it. Ask Dave, he had to endure my wrath for the rest of the morning because if there is one thing that I am NOT…..it is a morning person.

Arrive at Caesar’s. 234 was the final count on ladies in the event. 1st place got $12,800 in cash plus a $5000 seat to their main event next Sunday. And some necklace. At any rate, I was ready to win these things First hand I pick up in the tourney is pocket queens in the big blind. So I took down the first pot of the day.

From there, things got really weird. I saw 10 pocket pairs in 42 minutes, I kid you not. Everything ranging from those queens, down to 2s, back up to Kings. Which is where my story leads next. I can’t remember my exact position on this hand, but I can tell you this. Blinds 25/50, 2 limpers ahead of me. I raise to $250, blinds folded. Both limpers call. So, there is about 800 in the pot. Flop comes 446, 2 spades. Checks to me, last to act - I bet 500. One girl thinks forever and calls. Other folds. Turn comes a 3 and all of a sudden the caller is all in. I put her on nothing here, and I was correct. I call, because it’s 1000 more into this pot. I flip over my Kings and this dumb donkey flips over Ace 5 off suit. So, to review…..she limped with Ace 5 off, called my pre-flop raise with it…….called my bet of 500 with NOTHING. She had ONE spade. Peels off an open ended, lucky ass straight draw on the turn and shoves it. And of course, rivers a 7 for her stupid straight. Runner runner perfect to her nothing hand. Awesome.

So this cripples me to 950 chips. I’m fuming and doing all I can to prevent a Scott Cook blow up from ensuing at the table. I remind myself over and over to not tilt and make the most of my remaining chips. A few hands later, at 50/100, I am forced to push it all on Ace Queen with 1000 chips. Same dumb donkey calls for 1000 with Ace 10 off. Flops a 10. Scott Cook blow up getting ready to boil over…..but I river a queen and take back my chips from this doofus.

I will spare you too many details here. Basically I worked my way back up to 3900 and then in the 100/200 ante 25 level, I am down to 2300 and look down at AQ hearts UTG +2 and it folds to me so I shove it for over 10 BB and get insta-called right next door. Great. She shows pocket kings. 4 diamonds come on the board and so a river and I would at least be saved by a split. No such luck. And out of the tournament in around 130th place. So middle of the field. I was the first Bad Beats lady out, and pissed off and disappointed. About 2 hours later, Dana and Kim go out within 5 minutes of each other. Then another 2 hours and Kathleen is out. When I left, Kelley was in the cash and there were 24 remaining. So I hope she did well!

I opted to play blackjack, won some $ there while waiting for a 1/2NL spot to open up. Then played 1/2NL and came out up another $210 on my buyin. Here was another example of patience paying off. I literally saw NO hands for 90 minutes. I look down at Q5 clubs on the button and almost fold, but I limp. It was a 5 way limped pot. And lo and behold…flop comes Q55. Guy bets out, I flat call. Turn is a jack. One guy bets $50, the other guy calls, I come over the top for $140. First better folds, 2nd guy calls, flips over queen jack. So my flopped boat could still be rivered by a queen or jack. But instead, I hit my 5 for quads And took down a humungous pot because no one saw it coming! Again, all my patience, for that one hand that was worth it all.

And that wrapped up my trip. I’m in the car right now (not driving……duh, obviously.) about 20 minutes outside of Columbus and tired as hell. Pretty good weekend though. Made a couple hundred, played the ladies event essentially for $10, and had a blast with the girls. Met some really nice people at the cash tables….met a girl named Janella (?) from Columbus, who I had never met, but she knows a lot of you from Gemini. She was very nice. She had these dice weaved into her hair and I had on a dice bracelet that happened to match them perfectly, which was ironic. I later gave her the bracelet because she liked it so much and it brought me good luck while I was there, so I figured……since I was leaving, maybe it would bring some luck to her.

Other than that, I would like to mention that a ladies event apparently brings in every butchy woman on earth, so it’s no surprise to me NOW that Dana had that little situation with “Kelly” last time. I swore I was at a softball tournament, not a poker tourney! AND…..I still question if there weren’t a couple transvestites in the bunch too, because there were non-butchy women there who looked 100% beyond the shadow of a doubt to be part man and/or sex change candidate. It was quite enlightening. I told Dave to throw on a skirt and wig and that he’d make a pretty fetching girl, but he wasn’t into the idea

PS> Just got the update at midnight......after I typed all this. Kelley Kiser won the ladies event!!!!!!!!!!! So a bad beats gal takes it down!
