Ok, so I got what I thought to be the usual boring email from either PS or FT, but a couple things stood out on this recent one from PS.
Guinness World Record Attempt:
Attempt for the largest online tournament (player wise). Half a million dollar prize pool guaranteed for only a 10+1 investment. I did the math, and they would have to get between 45,000 and 46,000 players in this tournament to break even on their guarantee. So even if they get their goal of 35,000 players, there would still be a lot of extra money in this tourney out of PokerStars pocket. Currently there are a little over 14,700 players. This event is Sun Dec 28th at 15:30 Eastern
10,000 player SNG's (shouldn't it be called a sit and stay awhile!?)
You buy in for one buck and PokerStars throws in an *additional* dollar for every player ($10,000). Each time it fills up, a new one will start. I am curious how fast these will fill up. So you basically get double your ROI when you win. I have a feeling each will fill up pretty quick. I usually pass on such low buy-ins, but if they fill up quick enough and if it is possible for me to start four of these side by side within two hours or so, I would like to get a chance at all that extra juice or maybe even a lucky final table. These are to run all day on the 27th and 28th.
For the high rollers, this Sunday million will still have the same $215 entry fee, but the guaranteed prize pool will be raised to $2.5 million.
