Floppy the Dragon KO's the competition

So around 5pm last night, our own Mr. Suver embarked on a journey in the $25,000 guarantee knock-out tournament on Full Tilt.

I am fuzzy on the # of players and buy-in, but 1st place was around $6900 (lol, sorry couldn't help it)....I'm sure Mr. Dragon can retell the story a little better.

So around 7pm when the badbeats tournament started, Suver jumps on and starts talking his usual brand of garbage to the rest of us. I check him out to see what he's up to, and I see he's playing this and doing pretty well.

Well around 10pm, I start railing Scott and he tells me to check on Ben, because he's smashing it up.

There were 6 players left, and he was crushing the table.

My tylenol pm kicked my a$$ around 10:30, so I didn't get to see the ending, but Dave tells me he finished 2nd.

What a great job, Ben! Now maybe you'll be charging less for those famed lap dances.....oh and Ben, thank you by the way, that was very nice! And no I don't mean the lap dance...

    very nice finish!

I watched Ben for a couple of hours in this game and he played famously. Ended up in second place a little after midnight for ~ $4,400. Fantastic job Ben. We're all proud of you!

    Congrats, Mr. Suver!!

Now I'm concerned about you attending our game on Friday. We don't need no stinkin' competition!!

So, is this the new plan? Natalie gets an awesome high paying job near your hometown, and you become an internet PHENOM?

I like the sound of that, and it seems to be working!! Great job and thanks for the railbird encouragement!

No chance. No marriage for Dana. Only dating. Marriage ruins things. Dating is fun.

As for Flopdragon. You keep this up and we're going to have to stop calling you the Hoover. Nice work again.

Just don't ASK me about my marital status! Mr. Suver learned the hard way that I have a great deal of difficulty in answering that one.....

Thanks for all the nice comments.. It was my 2nd big win and not a moment too soon for my ever decreasing bankroll.. Actually after my last big win I had some marginal success and was able to cash out a little bit of it before blowing it all...

That being said I need to thank all the great folks at RAKEBACK.. I was able to get over $110 dollars back from last month's efforts and w/ some luck at the single table SNG's made enough to risk it last night... I entered the $120+9 (not following good bankroll mgt.) w/ not much left over and was able to win just over $4,600 w/ K.O's....

It does feel sweet to win some big cash and do it against a solid field.. It was a long grind w/ some early issues... I was 2nd to last w/ only 800 chips in the first 5 minutes (3k in starting chips w/ 12min blinds) after getting my J's crushed by AK... Somehow I survived and made it to an average chip stack w/ in an hour...

After that I played basic ABC poker w/ an occasional steal here and there... At the half way point I decided to play for the win and switched gears... I opened up the play book and made it up to the top 15 and really never looked back.. I told Scott in a quick phone convo that I was "in the zone" (w/ 30 players left) as they say or as I said "I think I'm going to win this thing.".. I then went on a run/rush and took advantage of the bubble watchers... This allowed me to move up to the top 5... After the crash of the bubble and the initial drop of 4/5 players, the game tightened up and so did I... W/ 18 players left, I was roaming around top 3... I stayed tight w/ an occasional steal when in position... At 11 players left I made a big play w/ pocket Q's and took over the chip lead... I held this lead until getting crippled w/ what I considered a solid read (not quite) that got trumped on the river...

Player X was playing ultra aggressive w/ 5 players left... He had stolen several of my blinds and had also forced me to fold pocket J's w/ only a Q high flop... He was owning the table so to speak... Player X was to my left and had reraised me on the last few hands that I had raised w/ preflop... So after taking this crap for a while I decided to call the next one w/ just about any pocket pair (maybe not the best thought)... So the very next hand I got 55 in the small blind... The 3 other players folded and I decided to raise knowing that he would follow it up w/ a reraise.. I had noticed earlier that he was over valuing Q10 and other similar face connectors.. So when he reraised me w/ my 5's I called and saw a flop of ... I then checked and he checks . He had made this same move earlier w/ QJ and got exposed... So I the turn brings an ... I check and he makes a bet just over the pot.... This convinced me (lots of feel at this point of the event) that he was trying to buy it and as long as no face card came on the river I had him... so I call and the river brings a ... I check again and he makes a min bet and I call... I turn over my and he shows ... UGHHHH... Ok so now I feel stupid...lol.. I hate that I was merely a call station here but I had a good feel on what he had (wrong) and knew if I had fired at this pot he was the type to push regardless of what he had and I thought I had him and wanted the cash (I know run on sentence)... I know this is a terrible way to play especially this late in the event but I thought I was the one setting the trap (wrong again)...

Now I am in 5th w/ just less than average chips... I dust myself off and decide I am going to change gears and be the aggressor... At first it brings me back up to 3rd but player X gets lucky again on the river and knocks me back down to 4th... After what seems like eternity I make it back up to 2nd and player X and I each knock out the remaining 3 players...

So now we are heads up... I would like to tell some interesting hand plays but there isn't much to tell... We each take turns w/ the chip lead w/ what best can be described as ultra aggressive play until the final hand that won him the event...

Overall I was VERY happy w/ my play.. I played against a very SOLID field of players and felt I outplayed most of them (minus player X)... I did however make a huge call on him late that allowed me to take the chip lead for a brief period of time..

Along w/ telling everyone that railed for me thanks I would like to give one last shout out... That would be to stackinsideways... The reason he helped me do well in this event is simple.. Every time I play a $30 dollar single table SNG w/ him I donk off all my chips within the first couple of orbits.. Although I am always capable of such terrible play it has not been the norm (at least recently).. The reason I mention this is that its awesome (old 90's term) a fellow badbeats member (stackinsideways) inspired me to play better after I had just left his table in embarrassment... Thanks Stack... The check is in the mail...

I also learned how invaluable making it deep in a big event (double cashing and winning Daily Double B and cashing in the last FTOPS Main Event) helped my late game strategy... As I said above once we got down to 30 players I knew I had what it takes to win and that was HUGE...

Sorry this was such a long and incoherent post.. It's to late to write this in the proper manner... Thanks again folks for all the kind words and support...
