We have had a Goal thread every year. Just because the big poker sites got shut down to US players doesn't mean we shouldn't still set goals.
Here are my goals:

POKER GOALS FOR 2012 (on poker stars)
$200 starting bankroll to $3000
Average 25hrs a week play
Average around 1520 vpp a month (11 months, 4 weeks knocked off for hols etc) to hit target of around 16,700 vpp a year which = $200 in bonus
That would give me 25,000 fpp at silver level = $300 in bonus ***must hit silver each month***
$500 total in bonus
Leaves me with $2300 profit to make
Vast majority of the games will be double or nothing, just to hit target vpp\fpp points. But will also play a wide variety of sng multi table games once im on track
Will also have one session a week to play MTT in which i cant buy in for more than 2% of the roll into anyone game (can satty in and take shots) - prob play MTT on a Tue night each week.
Cannot use bankroll for any other stuff (usually blow it all on holidays if i win anything)
Cannot buy into any baps no matter how tempting they are
Personal goals
Eat more healthy
Walk for 1 hour a day - min 4 times a week
Take our lass out at least once a month
See my mates a bit more

Allways loved threads like this.
Recently read a norwegian poker player's blog for the new year. Among all the rambling he wrote some lines I really enjoyed: "What stops us from doing fantastic things is rarely lack of ability or absence of pysical potential, but limits we set for ourself.... Life and how we wish to live it. Sleeping, sobbing and wandering around, or awake, sharp and with direction? Because we don't have unlimited time to do it." (I translated it so if it doesnt do it for you blaim me and imagine it was awesome)
Those sentences really got to me. I know I am gifted and fortunate in every way. I also know I have done relatively well for my years. The big but however, is the fact that I have only accomplished those things because I was lucky and was at the right place at the right time. Fortunate enough to find something I had talent for and loved. Never felt like hard work, and thus it is not fullfilling enough.
So 2012 starts with promise to be a year of harder work, more decipline and accomplishments in the areas I want to succeed in. Using the same formula in life as in poker; cool reflection, put ourself in position to attack, limits off - full aggression, then enjoying what we have accomplished while planning new goals.
Longterm goals:
1. Make it into medicine summer 2013.
2. Set money of every month and eventually buy more real estate.
3. Be fit as fuck.
Midterm goals:
1. Read enough to do perfect in my exams this summer.
2. Find a way to balance good volume in poker with a normal day rhytm. Work on my game.
3. Work out a little every day - doesnt mather if its just 15 minutes running or a little weight lifting.
How to do it:
- Keep observing how I do every single day. Bought myself a little black book where I wright down just a couple of sentences of what I have worked with and what I plan to do every day. Does not take more than 45 seconds to write it down and reflect a little every night.
Sorry for rambling. Lets see if I lol as much next year of this years goals as I did now for the 2011's.

Logged on for the first time in forever for this thread. First of all, I am no longer making any fitness related goals. Whether freethrow shooting %, running a certain distance, or lifting at a certain frequency, the last few years have shown these goals to be close to pointless.
1. Meet Thang in real life (this is an automatic goal every year)
2. Pass Exam P and F
3. Get an internship this summer
4. Successfully make my favorite food, Lasagna, by myself.
5. Continue enjoying the extra studying and preparing for my career and grad school outside of my normal responsibilities, but realize it's work too.
6. I've realized that I've taken respect and success way too seriously in the past. There is nothing wrong with just being happy. 2011 was the happiest years of my life and I want 2012 to be even better!
7. Get unbanned from Nick's Shark Tank
8. Be in the Jury for a Judge Mathis taping.
9. Live in Chicago in 2013. 2013 is when it will happen but 2012 is when I'll make it happen.
10. Randomly skype rail Vestvik for a day like it's 2010 or something.
