Tonight was the night for many things, Galactus X destroyed the FTOPS 24. It was the NBA All Star Game. Guys and Girls alike munched down on delicious V-Day Chocolate, and some BBP'ers decided to play a game of HORSE.
It started off, as it usually does, with LAPPIN and I making a select few sidebets. We made our standard bets, of a last longer and picking last longer teams. We also made a couple more bets, I picked the bubble boy (pegboy1) and we both bet on ourselves to win at very reasonable odds.
It was a classic confrontation, Dr Fill Good Chipless Wonder Wreaks and some random VS LAPPIN phishingirl pegboy1 and some other random. I clearly had obscene confidence in my teams ability to destroy our admittedly strong opponents in this game. Until after the first five minutes.
My team started off weakly would be an understatement. Every minute or so Chipless would chime in with
"Why do I have so many cards?"
"Why on earth did I not get the low there"
"I'm so confused?!:S"
"I hate this game"
All the while wreaks and I were struggling as well, never getting anything going and soon enough all three of us were down to around 300ish, from our starting stack of 1500. While LAPPIN and crew were laughing it up around 3k.
I was worried at this point, furiously trying to spur my team onto victory but at this point I was just hoping to only lose 40$.
Chipless went out in a very friendly 8th, but luckily LAPPIN's random was kind enough to bow out in 7th. Wreaks did his best to start a comeback that fizzled out in 6th.
At this point I've basically given up on the team section, and my last longer bet with LAPPIN was all but decided as I have around 600 chips and he was sitting very comfortably near the top of the leaderboard with 3k. I have some longshots but things could get very messy.
Then my skillbox skills took over.
I split a couple pots in Omaha and Stud Hi/Low until I picked up a sneaky pair of 7's in Stud HL. LAPPIN insta raises the bring in with an ace showing. I decide this is my time to shine and call 1/4 of my stack to see another card.
The turn brings him a K, which again he bets very aggresively. We get it all in, and he has air and doesn't improve.
This hand shifts the balance a bit, I have a stack now and LAPPIN has been has been hurt, but not crippled. I now have a chance to get into the black.
Tune in tomorrow for our exiting conclusion to this stunning tale.
