Alright, in my new job, I can't really get bad beats bestowed upon me, but man, can I sure deal them out. Check out this one from yesterday. Perhaps the worst blackjack result I have EVER seen.
Guy bets $50 in the circle. He is dealt:
My exposed hole card is a 5. I'd show you an image, but my post is limited to 20 images and we can leave this out for now for the sake of posting, since you are all aware of what a 5 looks like!
The recommended play when I show a bust is either to stay, or split them up for another $50. He decides to split. His next card, strangely enough is:
He splits again. So we go back to the first card. His hand becomes:
for 18.
Next hand becomes:
so he doubles down for another $50. He adds
for a 20.
Next hand becomes:
I can't believe it, another freaking red 7. This is his last option to split, so he puts up the next $50 and now he has a 4 way split of 7s. That is the limit on all cards but aces (4 ways). He gets a
on the first one for 17.
On the last hand, it becomes:
He doubles down for his last $50 and is dealt afor 19.
So let's recap. He has 7s split 4 ways ($200) and 2 double downs ($100) with hands totaling 17, 17, 19 and 20
It becomes MY turn to draw. Here is my sequence of cards. Remember that I have to hit soft 17 (which I had after the 3rd card) and the 5 after that takes the hand back to 12, at which point I'm due to bust, since there have been NO face cards. Here we go:
For those who don't get the math......the 6 on the end made me 21.
This guy loses $300 on one hand at a $5 blackjack table. He jumps up, yells "are you f**king kidding me?!?!?" It was my first moment at this job where my blood ran ice cold and all I wanted to do was disappear under the table.
In sum, I am the ultimate cooler.
