So I read that "heading" above somewhere and it stuck in my head. Now when to, or how to use it is another story. So action Jackson is at my table, someone I am thinking is the perfect player to allow me to check raise. Turns out he wasnt the one and I will tell you why.

First off, he is an action player. He likes to raise way too much preflop regardless of his cards. He will raise from early, middle and late position quite regularly. Obviously he is not raising with nut hands, not 2nd nut hands either as I watched every time he turned over his cards. I am not going to say this guy is a poor player as he is not, not sure if he is a winning player either as just wanting action.

I finally had an opportunity to check raise him. 3 of us are in the pot and he is last. player in front me checks the turn where I hit the nuts. I too check hoping action Jackson will bet, first player will call and I could check raise hoping to get two extra large bets out of each of the players.

My plan fails and I bet the river, player in front folds and action Jackson calls. After the hand is over and we are into the next hand action Jackson says to me across the table (he is a very friendly local player) " so you want me to bet your hand for you" and I smiled.

I realize now that there was atleast one other player at the table who would have been a better target to check raise as he was not so much a rasing player but liked to bet whether he was ahead or not (could be bluffing too) I'm only realizing now as I write this (how therapeutic this is huh). Action Jackson was a pre flop action player and usually slowed down on the turn. I should be check raising him on the flop, maybe even preflop but thinking my hand is not much good until I see the flop besides its only for a small bet ( I am playing fixed limit for 4 dollar till the turn and river being an 8 dollar bet).

Learning to pick a target to check raise seems to be at the next level. I'm just realizing now how much my game has matured and what a thinking player I have become Cya
