So it was my Daughters birthday last week (27yrs) and she came to visit. It was different this time though, she came to enjoy her family (Dad and wife, grams and my bro). It definately was sweet and quality time (not often enough as life usually gets in the way) We got free tickets to a band called Bonfire out of Los Angeles and they are an AC/DC tribute band, similiar to the recent visit by the Beatlemania and Rolling Stones bands-tribute bands seem to be really hot these days as the original bands are no longer performing.
It was at the Hilton (sorry, thats LVH now) Many old people were there including a woman I play poker with at the Orleans, she is 71 yrs old. What I did not know was that AC/DC had the third largest sales in album history behind Michael Jackson and Pink Floyd-Pretty staggering in my book. Needless to say they did not play the following two songs as I wish they had. They are "The Jack" a total poker song, and "Big Balls" my all time favorites. I should say I've never owned one of their albums though.

Back to poker now......How much and when do you tip? I no longer have to worry about tipping waitresses as I bring my own drinks, typically a soda for dinner and bottled/Vitamin water to keep my throat wet during the long hours at the table. I some times bring my own Ice Coffee (starbucks in a bottle) I even trip on over to the bar and get a glass of ice if need be. You ask... how much do you save Dave? Well if I play 4 times a week for atleast 4-5 hours and sometimes way more than that it could cost me two dollars and as much as 4 dollars per session. so lets say avg 3 dollars 4X a week is 12 and for 4 weeks in the month you are looking at close to 50 bucks. That could be the difference in a winning or losing month. I'm not done yet, what about tipping the dealer. You see its abit different at the Omaha split game than at hold em as in omaha there are usually two winners per hand and for some strange reason both winners tip one dollar each while the dealer at a holdem game only gets one dollar per hand. Yes you deal less hands at omaha than at holdem (good reason, maybe)

In reality even with two players heads up they are not winning as much as in holdem, prolly their money back plus the blinds. Its ridiculous to tip one dollar when winning only 4, the same applies to the amt of the pot being less than 10 or 15 would mean no tipping, but here is the biggest reason not to tip. READY? Hows about when the dealer who is so use to getting tips, stops saying thank you? They think it should be automatic and therefore expect it regardless. Excuse me!!!!!

Lets count the money again. I avg lets say 5 pots (wins a night) and sometimes I only win 40, 60 or maybe 200. It doesnt matter but at a dollar a win for 5 pots is 5.00 a night times 4 nights is 20 times 4 weeks is another 80 bucks. So between the dealers and the waitresses I just lost an avg 130 bucks a month. Thats alot of money!!!!! I keep records of the amt of money I make at poker whether its a loss or a win. I am honest with myself as this is a serious business for me. I can tell you right now that 90% of the players at my tables do not keep track at all. Cya
