    Poker Tracker, or Poker Edge?

They both seem like pretty useful tools, just trying to decide which one is the better program. The main difference from my understanding is the way they collect data, Poker Tracker collects data from the tables you are at. While Poker Edge has a data base with info on every player online (check out their site for their info on yourself Online Poker Player Stats Tracking Software | Real Time Statistics Tracker | Hand History Database Exchange | Player Profiling). There are also a few other differences in the info that is given, and some extra's each one offers. So has anyone tried both? Or has an opinion on one or the other? Oh and on the topics of programs... how does sharkscope match up to both of those from a sit-n-go players perspective?

PokerTracker is legal and PokerEdge is prohibited. I would stick with software that is allowed by the site...

An email from Full Tilt when I asked about PokerTracker about a year ago...

Thank you for contacting Full Tilt Poker Support.

We certainly appreciate the fact that you've asked about the legality of
a program before putting it into use; we wish all players had your
    integrity.

There is certain software that is prohibited at Full Tilt Poker, and we
permanently suspend the account of any player who uses them. For your
reference, here is a complete list of all software prohibited from use
by our players. This list is subject to change without notice:

    1. PokerEdge
    2. PokerProphecy
    3. StarSpy
    4. WinHoldem
    5. PokerSherlock
    6. Poker Manager
    7. Sixth Sense
    8. PokerAndroid
    9. PokerBot+
    10. Holdem Hawk
    11. Holdem Pirate
    12. Gambot

If there's anything else we can help you with, please feel free to ask.
Best of luck at the tables!

The reason why is that PokerTracker is not doing anything you could not do yourself. IE. you could write down every single action that happened while you are playing and perform the calculations yourself.

PokerEdge provides a service you could NOT do on your own by compiling one massive database on everyone.

Most major poker sites have adopted the mentality that the only software that will be prohibited is software that does something not possible without the software, OR, any software that automates any part of the game. Examples include anything from a completely automated "bot" to an autofolder program that would automatically fold certain hands from certain positions preflop.

For this reason, SharkScope HUD should also be a banned program but I think they kickback enough in revenues and advertisements for FT to turn a blind eye... The other possibility is that the HUD is simply putting information about players results on your screen. The idea is that by playing online you are automatically consenting to the possibility that anyone could watch you and record your results, so your wins and losses could be public knowledge.

I would say SharkScope still reigns king for sng as wins and losses can provide some insight on how someone plays.

The BEST possible program to assist with sng would be something that provides gameplay stats (such as PT) that is filtered for sngs and the current number of players remaining at the table. However, to my knowledge, this does not exist.

"You have it in your power to turn a bad-beat around simply by realizing this simple truth: The more bad beats you encounter, the luckier you are. It's a sign that you are playing against opponents who continually take the worst of it, and if you can't beat someone who always takes the worst of it, you can't beat anyone"
