Could I have played it any differently?

While I was getting my ass handed to me by otbdave, and serving out bad beats galore in the bellybusters I was actually playing well in the 17.5k. Which had a sunday-assisted prize pool of over 36000$ (first place being 8k) We were down to 11 players left and I was third in chips with a little over 160000 when I woke up with 44 in the small blind. The player in first position, who had around 120k raises to 8k with the blinds at 3k. I make the easy call figuring if I flop a set I'll stack this guy as he has a tendency to overpush. The bb calls as well so we have 3 to the flop which comes

I catch my "dream". I make a pot sized bet figuring any good ace with a decent heart has to call and I'll be a 70-30 favorite to double up. After the big blind folds first position pushes, I instacall and he turns over

and I go from making 8k to 600.... this is a useless game. Anyways could I have folded there? Or possibly repopped preflop? This was a six handed game so I'm really wondering... I don't think I could have played the flop much differently... anyways thoughts??

With your read on this opponent and your hand, there's no way you can ever fold here. There's too big a chance that he has an ace with or without a big heart kicker.

Yeah... your probably right, I think I'm just in shock right now after losing that way. And winning the bellybusters in the way I did, which was just gross.

I completely agree with Brian here.. You can't fold.. Yes it was gross.. Like my aj vs. your a9.. I hit a jack on the flop and he rivers a str8... lol.. Sick.. However other than this hand you played great Dr. and this call preflop was't that ugly..
