    QTo middle/late level MTT

I was playing a MTT on FTP this morning and this hand came up:

    Blinds 120/240, 9-handed

UTG+1&2 limp, fold, MP+1 limps with , and button pops to T1000

Blinds and UTG+1 fold. UTG2 and MP+1 call.

    Flop: with pot of ~3800

Action checks to button, who pushes for T3100. UTG2 folds. With about T5000 more than the allin, what is MP1's action?

I can see a solid argument for both a call or a fold here, but I prefer the fold.. Your experiment has gone awry with that ace on the board. Now of course he could just be full of it but I would rather let this one go and look for a better situation where I have the advantage..

A better question would be what did you put this player on preflop when calling his/her raise and did you expect him to push regardless on the flop?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. The villain was the QT hand. Incidentally, all I had was 75o. But, the way I played pf and flop, I thought I told the story pretty well of someone who at least had QTo beat and was protecting against the flush draw coming.

obv QT is a fold here

not a big fan of your play here though.. this board figures to be all over their range and raising 1/4 your stack as a pure bluff pre just seems ill advised

I personally do not like the play preflop. I think this is a clear fold, as QT really has little value in a raised pot. I see players shoving Ax+ like this all the time. Is JJ+ out of his range? definitely not. As played, the player needs to be folding. I see that you were on the button with 57o, and it's not all that bad to get tricky once in a while, so MP1 must have thought you were full of it with the shove and called. I don't like his play either way.

play looks very bad by QTo,...i wish I knew the stack sizes to give a better response...and is this a 18 Man SNG or what? Final table is at 240 blinds? Doesn't really seem like an MTT...

oops, i just meant the table was full. This was a 200+ person event to my recollection. Though I don't remember the BI. ~50?

As for making a play with 75o, I was just playing my image of not having played more than 3 hands in the past hour, 2 of which were blinds. I had passed on every button steal since before that opint, so I was just assuming a little respect would come my way.

    I play so bad.

But, glad to know most other people would fold the QT

Just remember this is a small online poker tournament. Nobody is paying attention...they're watching TV, dealing with their kids, surfing the net, w/e else.

And even though you should get respect when you play super tight, the truth is everybody is stupid...you will not get respect.

So, try not to lose your mind with 75o.

Great post Chronic. Respect is wasted until you get the the cashing part in big events. Your image is never known until you start playing players who actually care about poker.
