This is the 1st of 3 really bad spots I put myself in after the dinner break. Please analyze.....
Blinds are 400-800-100
My stack size is roughly 80K, and villian is in that neighborhood as well.
It folds to the cutoff, who makes a standard raise of 2100. Folds to me on the SB, and I look at 88. I didn't have a firm read on the villian, but he is his active level is about average...and a skilled player. I had given up a lot of my blinds to this point....but I didn't 3 bet for two reasons. 1.) I really felt like that since I had given up a number of blinds that they were expecting a 3 bet from me very soon, and 2.) Guys pretty standardly call 3 bets in position so far....so it really does me no good to play a big pot out of position with this hand.....so I call.
Flop is 10-3-4, two clubs. I check, villian bets 2700, and I call. Turn is a red 2, and I check again. Villian bets 6500 this time, and I raise to 14500...he thinks a minute and ships, and I fold.
Is this a simple overplay on my part?
Now that I type this out....I really don't like my line here. I can't really rep an overpair here....it's hard to rep a 10, but I guess maybe a little bit...I could rep a set (maybe), but I think it would be a poor way to play one in this spot.
I think maybe I got caught up in the "last one to bet" takes it down, which seemed to be the story of the day.....and I got out of line.
Maybe I figured this one out myself, but I'd love some input on how to keep me out of these situations.....it's freaking hard to keep your mind for 10 hours!!
