Too aggressive early in $3 turbo?

    Blind level 20/40, everyone is around 1500. 6-max multi-table
Button raises to 140, SB calls, I pick up 9s9d and reraised to 455 leaving me w 1220 behind.
My thought process is that he has a wide range from the button, if he shoves im probablly folding, and if he just calls i have a pretty good idea of his range (AT+ 22+ although i think its less likely that he calls w 22-44)
    Button calls. SB folds.

    Pot: 1050
    Flop: 2s4d5s

I open shove my 1220. Any thoughts?

I'm not a fan of the open shove here. The best that you can hope for is that he's on AQ AK, and you could get that same information for 300-400 chips, instead of your stack. If he's on any hand that just has 99 dominated, he's not folding anyway.

I'd check raise all in sometimes, and I'd bet 1/2 the pot the rest. Problem with checking, an overcard could come that scares you. Problem with betting...I dunno, it's probly the best play. Yes you'll take it down most of the time right here with a bet, but is that so bad? You only have 99 and the goal should be take it down ASAP...but I do check raise sometimes cuz over cards will put you on ak/aq with a check more times than not and try to take it from you
Finally a new post in my blog, view at: http://www.badbeatspoker.net/forum/blogs/cdavi/
