    Very annoying spot with AK

    Hi,

I sure hope this isn't straight forward, but it's caused me a bit of a headache. Halland is tight (13/6 over 97 hands) but had raised a couple of times from EP already (which obviously could be a coincidence but whatever). Mastercheck was 18/14 over a 100 hand sample, quite competent (which was confirmed by sharkscope hud that I had running). 11 left from 45 when this hand occurred.

How would you proceed and why?

    Full Tilt Poker Game #14511218215: $10 + $1 Sit & Go (), Table 4 - 120/240 - No Limit Hold'em - 6:01:09 ET - 2009/09/06
Seat 4: xxxferanxxx (4,812), is sitting out
    Seat 5: AmMurphy (4,120)
    Seat 6: Chancard (4,670)
    Seat 7: HallandOates (7,563)
    Seat 9: mastercheck (10,705)
AmMurphy posts the small blind of 120
Chancard posts the big blind of 240
The button is in seat #4
    *** HOLE CARDS ***
    Dealt to Chancard [Ks Ac]
    HallandOates raises to 532
    mastercheck raises to 1,956
    xxxferanxxx folds
    AmMurphy folds
Chancard has 15 seconds left to act
    Chancard ?

Insta fold for me, given your reads on villain and the fact they both have you covered seals the deal for me, if you were level or had similar stacks I would maybe gamble, but given the action I think you are going to be racing at best.

Also in this scenario with only 11 runners left I would have the other table up and comparing your stack size with the other players and the position of the shorties in relation to the blinds, with you been in the BB and having a playable stack once the SB has passed you, you may find the shorties on the other table may have a less favourable table position in relation to the blinds and will have to commit their stack before you do, so you possibly could reach the final table by just folding for the next orbit or making a move if you pick up a strong hand.

I would probably push and pray at this point. You're going to need to double up one more time to get to the money and the blinds are going to really start eating into your stack given their size and that you're playing short-handed. I usually use the 150/300 level as a benchmark on when never to fold ak in the $24 45-mans. Still, it's definitely not an easy decision given your stack size...

(Caveat: The $10s play a little differently than the $24s. Also, I tend to play too tight late and am not that good at stealing blinds, so I usually go with luck in these spots.)

Out of curiosity I did a Chip EV calculation with the SnG Wizard.

Its a borderline push/fold Chip EV wise, if your stats and reads are right and we classify the original raiser as very tight and the 3 bettor as tight the Wizard recommends a narrow fold, but if we change the original raisers opening range to that of a tight player and leave the 3 bettor the same the Wizard recommends a marginal push. I prefer the fold given the action, but thats just me!! :-)

You only use the "$" when you want to perform an ICM calculation and this is only done in a Final table scenario when all stack sizes in the current game are known and equity calculations can be based on stack sizes and total prize pool, as there are still 2 tables running you should not use the ICM mode.

Check this thread out I posted on the SnG Wizard Forum Anton.

Can I tell the Wizard 2 tables are still running in this 45 seater?
