    AQo at the Gemini

So I played at Gemini last Friday for the first time. It didnt take long to agree with the consensus that the 1/3 plays like 5/10 and thus the game was fairly loose.

I had only been at the table for about 40 minutes and hadnt played very many hands. I am sitting in the BB with AQo. There were a few limpers, as usual, and a guy in LP (either CO or BTN, I cant remember) raised to $20. I have $150. What's the play?

Depends on the LP raiser but this is almost always a committing 3bet, make it something like 75 and lead out all in on any flop.

Against some of the super tight players I just fold.

Not much info on anybody but the whole scene was loose. Every hand there were 4-6 limpers/callers. A "standard" $18 raise usually got 1-2 callers.

I reraised $60, making it $80. Original raiser calls.

    is flopped.

I move all in for $68. He calls with...

    Turn

    River

I know I got my money in good. I suppose he had odds to call my shove, but is he a total donk for calling my 3bet preflop?

Does anyone else think that I could have played this differently?

Played exactly as I would have, he has to call you on the flop obviously it is pretty flippish.

Of course his call of the 3bet preflop is massively -EV but he was probably sitting about $875 deep so who cares about your puny 20BB reraise... lol

You want people to be playing like this but you really should have live poker fundage of around $6k-8k to be playing correctly at Gemini...

My first experience at Gemini, I lose $200 in 45 minutes. I lose $50 in the WWSOP HU event 3 hours later. I go back to Gemini that night with a TAG gameplan and win $400. All in all, I net around $150.

I figured out that you need to overbet with the best hands. It's the only way to get anyone to fold. And even that doesn't always work.

I had a similar experience with my AQo. I was in the BB, there was an EP raise to $8, and 4-5 callers. I popped it to $58, and got 2 callers (I had ~$200 at the start of the hand). Flop was K74 or something. I pushed it in. Both called. The hand that won was KQs. I lost a buy-in earlier when I had AK and the flop came A103 and the villain had A3.

    <shrug> that's Gemini.

    Any two cards...

Idk if you any of you know Abe, but I saw him smooth call two all-ins for a total of nearly $250 making it almost a $900 pot preflop the other night. On the river 1st guy has a set of Js, next guy rolls Qs for a A high straight, and Abe shows 2h5h for the flush that he runner runnered. Worst part is he called preflop so quick like he had Ks or As. Too sick. I open shoved $455 into a 9 limped staddle pot with As in the BB (not the best play I know, but was fine settling for a $56 pot with those), and he called me with 63 off and doubled me up. I obviously didn't mind the call and I knew what to expect before he rolls his hand over.
