Live Cash Games: Casinos vs. Local Rooms

For anyone who has logged significant time in both, what are the pros and cons of each? For example, which games are softer, and do they play differently?

Also, how would I go about projecting my profitablilty? I don't know much about winrate and etc.

I've never really thought of myself as a winning live cash game player, but my last 4 or 5 trips to the casino have been very profitable.

In my experience, local rooms tend to be inhabited by regulars who generally play a tight/solid game. At casinos, you're more like to get tourists who just want to try their hand at poker and other assorted fish with dead money at the table.
The swings will likely be more dramatic in a casino but profitably will likely be higher in the long run.

The other thing to consider though, is that local rooms usually have lower rake.

I agree 100%. I beat any 2/5 cash game in Vegas that I've played thusfar, (small sample during WSOP on 3 separate occasions), but would probably not rate to win in a local club that Fear plays in.

lol the local club I play in may be (on average) the softest small/midstakes nl game in the world. I wouldn't be surprised if it was. You would definitely rate to win.

online NL cash games are pretty tough these days. 1/2 and 2/5 live in large casinos are generally quite soft, people can't value a hand worth a damn in general. There are the possibilities of whales and drunk donators for more money compared to online. Finally, live is way more fun.

Is the Gemini in Columbus still open?

What would proper BR Management be like for a 1/2 game? I usually just show up at a casino with $500-$1,000 and play a couple of sessions.....or 1 reeeeally long one. But going forward, I think I want to try to grind the live game. Therefore, I need some BRM rules and parameters set up.
