Why do people hide their winning hand until the end?

I am sure some will disagree, but I think is is really annoying:

SHort stack opens to 15 from early position. I had been playing loose. I decided to raise him all in ($100 approximately). He quickly calls and I turn over JJ.

Board comes out all rags and then he shows AA.

WHat the hell is this shit? Turn over the AA once I show you JJ. WHy are you waiting? DO you plan to muck if a J hits? WHy? Who cares? Are you afraid we will know that you raise with AA and call an all in? That's come crucial information right there.

I think it's kind of a dick move not to show right away once I turn over the jacks. If I had a chance to pull a major slowroll on this guy I think it would have been appropriate to do so. He seemed like a nice guy and I know a lot of people do this, but I just don't get it.

NOTHING sucks so much at a table than slow rolling. I think it's disrespectful to your opponent and to the game.
We must believe in luck. For how else can we explain the success of those we don't like.

I agree. I asked a friend how has played a lot more live poker than I have, and he said it wasn't technically a slowroll since he did turn them up at the river without a lot of delay.

But I think that's nonsense. I had the courtesy to show him what he was trying to dodge, the least he could do is show me than I am behind instead of making it look like he had TT or AK or AQ.

Besides, if I flip and the other guy doesn't, I'll probably ask to see his cards anyway. I want to know what he called me with.

That's not a slowroll. If you suckout, they won't show you that they had aces, so they don't have to give more info away than necessary. What they are doing is just smart poker and EXTREMELY common.

Also, you shouldn't ask to see what somebody called you with. It's generally considered poor ettiquette.

Im pretty sure hes talking about players that arent smart doing it. They are the type that will still show aa after you suckout to say look you sucked out. Its a glorified slowroll to these people, or at least the ones Im thinking of, they like you wondering as the cards peel off

Is it bad for him if people know he calls all in with Aces?

I guess I don't understand this. If I show my hand and he is ahead, I think he should show his. I put in $110 pre flop; that isn't enough to see his hand?

I guess I will just stop turning over my cards on all ins, since so many other people do not. or I'll say "I'll flip if you flip."
