Trials and Tribulations of Stacey's Sahara (Vegas) Experience

I am fully planning a complete write up on the debacle that was the Nutini Spring Break trip to Vegas where as per normal.....coin flip type wagers whether it be a sports bet or a AK versus 10-10 type bet were losing at a staggering rate.:37:

However.....I wanted to give you all a preview of one of the funnier moments of the trip......

So we are a few days into our trip....and to be quite blunt...our asses hurt. Our asses hurt from all of the last second shots in basketball going against us....and I had been two outed twice with the money already in, in less than an hour just the day before to get stacked in a game that I had no business getting stacked in.....but I digress.

We decide that we are going to play some smaller tournaments....and for the money...one of the best small-ball tourneys in town is the Sahara 7PM and 11PM. $40 entry, with a $20 add-on/rebuy, and they also will let you buyin as a new player if you bust before the first break....

So Stacey and I sit down at seperate tables, but in close proximity.....And let me preface this by saying that this tourney is filled with a couple types of players.....there are your old farts who are tight as a drum....there are your old farts who just play bad and are simply there for the free sandwich at breaktime (which is an obsurd sandwich that sits in the back and these grub bags act like it is the last supper as they hoard as much as they possibly can in a 10 minute time frame....and then afterwards analyze such details as how much cheese was on it, and what condiments went best with this nights edition) and finally....there are your white trash players.....who are mostly locals who must live around there....some are sharp aggressive players and others simply think they are sharp aggressive players, but all in all, they are mostly really annoying.....and try to get under the "tourists" skin.

So now that I have prefaced it.....I get up 15 minutes in to see how Stacey is coming along....and she is shortstacked already....and I ask her how it happened.....she goes on to say that she had pocket 3's, and got called in a couple of spots.....flop came 2-4-5.....one guy bet out and she shoved it all-in. Then some old fart goes into some speech about how Stacey missed with AK, and called with 6-4....Stacey got busted. After I got done preaching to Stacey about shoving her chips in with a hand like 3-3, and her ignoring me as usual she took her rebuy......to which about 5 minutes later, she lost yet another hand shoving it in with 6c-8c when the flop came a 6 and two clubs....so now I have a grumpy wife.

I'm still playing of course since we are literally only about 20 minutes into the event....when I see Stacey head to the counter to rebuy in as a new player! So she draws a seat card and it is the EXACT same seat as she just got busted from. So embarrased Stacey grabs her new installment of chips and heads to the table......After reintroducing herself to the table as the donkey who was just busted twice in 20 minutes.....she picks up QQ 5 minutes later.....she raises....gets reraised, then shoves and gets called. UH OH! Next thing you know, I hear, loud enough for the entire poker room to hear. "Dammit Dave, IM OUT AGAIN!!" To which now, I dont claim to know her.....I just sit there and then I hear a loud clap and a bunch of ooh's and ahh's and come to find out that Stacey had a queen peel off to bust the aces that called her all-in. So she got to play on.....and my life was saved. Because I'm certain that if she had busted 3 times in under 30 minutes, she probably would have blown up the poker room and taken me down with it.

Luckily.....she ended up outlasting me in the tournament and got 11th,which was an agreed upon spot to get their money back......that is money back for ONE ENTRY, LOL So even when we cash, we still lose!!

I would like to chime in on a couple things....I raised with the 3s on the button and it checked to me after 4 people called. Flop of 5-2-4 looked pretty good to me actually, because any Ace-Dumb call of my raise just wiffed. So I tried the power play, and while it was the wrong choice....it's not like I got called by Aces or Kings or anything of ANY effing significance...the dumbass who called me had 6-4. So he calls my ALL IN with a pair of 4s....and to rewind....he called MY RAISE PRE-FLOP with that crap! I digress.

On the 68 clubs hand....the flop came 6-7-4 (2 clubs) so I was on a STRAIGHT FLUSH draw...which most of us get way too excited about in the first place. It had been a LIMPED pot at 50/100 blinds and 8 people hopped in. I can't recall exact details of this hand, but I do know this....after my shove....I got called by Aces AND Kings. Both monsters limped!! How do I put them on anything in an 8 way limped pot?!? At any rate, if I had hit another 6, and 8, a 5 or any club, I triple up here once my all-in was called by Aces and Kings. But of course, my plethora of outs is NEVER enough!!

That's all I have to say about that. It WAS funny when I yelled "Dave, I'm out AGAIN" and then sucked out a queen for a full double up of my brand new alter-ego chip stack And from that point forward, I started playing for real and at least cashed, despite it being for only one of my 2 buy-ins

What in the world was Eli doing in Las Vegas?

Edit: just kidding Eli. Gotta put that in there, just in case he decides to grace us with his presence and happens to do a search for 'Eli'.
