    Home Game Bluff

Last night i was playing in my home game and had control of the table with 33,400 in chips out of the 98,000 in play. This was with 7 people still in the game. About 2o minutes had passed and after losing a couple pots i was down to 26,100. One of the pots i lost was a semi bluff (great play) by one of the other players. So back to my story, i was starting to lose control of the table because player A was not only raising and taking blinds, he was raising being called and winning hands to build a stack a little less then mine.Player A is a one of the two people at the table that i have the most respect for the way they play poker. One of my biggest threats, so i decided i had to make a move and slow player A down.

Player A raises in first position to 1500 with 200 and 400 blinds. One person folds i look down at

i re raise to 5000 Every body folds to Player A. Player A looks like he does not like my raise but also looks like he considered re raising. He decided to just call. At this point i am putting him on AK AQ pocket pairs from QQ all the way to 99. I took him off KK or AA because he is smart enough to now slow play them. The flop comes

Player A checks to me. This is a scary board for the hands i am putting him on but i can not check, so i decided to bet 5000. Player A thinks about calling and ask me to show him a card. I know i cant do this because he is to good and would figure out i had nothing. I do tell him i will show the hand afterwards but anyone who knows me, knows i do that with a bluff or the nuts. He decides to fold his hands. Player A says he had AJ but i think he lied during the game if he still tells me that today i would then believe it.
My thinking was if had come over the top i still have more then average chips with 16,100 average stack was 14,00. I knew this gone into the hands is the only reason i tried such a bluff against such a good player.

I saw this move, and it was STRONG! I was very impressed with how closely you were monitoring the status and 'feel' of each player at the table. You just KNEW you could take down this pivotal pot, based on your keen observation skills. I can say that is no fun at all playing at George's table when he's on his game like he was this night...

    Well done George!
