Ok, so based on the fact that Tuesday night I earned myself a hefty little bankroll, I decided to try a $70+5 tournament tonight once I got off work, and opted for the $23,000 KO.
Among the interesting moments of the night were my pocket Kings earning me an early triple up against QQ and J10, flop of 899 turn of a King to seal my pot.
Oddly enough, immediately after this hand, I get moved to another table, where my hand is KK....this time I raise and flop a set of Kings. 2 spades on board though, I bet out, get re-raised, shove all in and Ace 8 of spades of course hits their spade on the turn and no boat card for me on the river. So I lose half the chips I just earned.
Cards start going very poorly and next thing you know I'm down to 3 blinds and feeling very helpless........I suddenly say "F this, I'm making a comeback of a lifetime, dammit...."
And an hour and a half later, I am at the final table in 5th place of nine.
At that point, the cards really start sucking. My ending was quite unfortunate. I have 66 in the BB and JandL raises to 13k. I know it is either a fold or a shove and I opt for the shove. My read on this guy from careful observation was that he folded to big re-raises often. This time, however, he chooses to call with A7 clubs and I flop the magical set. But alas, it is not good enough to beat the runner runner flush that sends my ass out of the tournament in 8th place.
Still very proud of 2 final tables in 2 nights for a total of about $3600. Nothing to shake a stick at, but still wish I could have doubled up there and gone farther....at least my OPR rating is moving up![]()
