    What are your poker goals?

I have a few questions for our great group on badbeats.

My second question what do you think that you will get from poker, What are your poker goals?

I will now answer my own question.

My second question is easy for me. I do not think will will ever win a bracelet because i will only get a few chances at it. What i get from poker is for one rent money. and the other thing is good friends.Do not feel offended if i do nlt list you but Suver and Chuck are two people that i consider close friends. Maby i will never be the greatest poker play alive but playing in these home games i have met two guys that i think i could call on for something other then poker. I read Dons blog and he says that it is a shame only a couple of guys take poker series enough to be great but i disagree i love the way i look at poker. I one day hope scott and Don are great players in vegas (I can see this happening because they both work hard at poker) The truth for me poker is not top ten in my life and i expect nothing from it.

    I like your outlook George.

My goal is to break even. I enjoy the people we play with a great deal. So by breaking even on the year, I've had many hours of entertainment, with good people, basically for free.

Last year I made an OK profit on poker which is just icing on the cake.

    Well...

George, I have no problem with you disagreeing with what I say.....but it's usually at that point you might want to interject some form of argument for your comment.

I also would not end your post with "poker is not top ten in my life and i expect nothing from it." All that statement does is give credence to my blog.

Also....my blogs are my personal thoughts....they might not be for everyone.

I read your other post as well....about not having to read books or study....that you have some type of "X" factor that allows to run over others who work so hard at what seems to come to you naturally. I can't even begin to comment on the pure arrogance of such a statement, but to each his own.

Remember, Las Vegas isn't one of your local poker leagues, nor is it some obscure poker tourney in Lima. Spend $1000-$10,000 on an entry fee and sit down next to a pro who could care less about the money....strike up a conversation with him or her about your "x" factor or how well you do in your homes games or how you chopped in Lima....see where that convo takes you.

You used to host a home game (maybe you still do)....you almost never missed a Thursday night at Eric's...you told us a few weeks ago about skipping class to play the BB tourney and you are at almost every league game....and you are saying that poker is not top ten in your life? George....I do not think you are being honest....but who knows....you could be bluffing.

    guy

This seems like an attack on me don. What i said about you and scott and you was a compliment. I really do think with hard word you can do something with poker.
Why i feel the need to defend myself against you i do not know, but lets get some things straight i do not care about beating some pro in Vegas. read my post i play poker to have fun with friends. These are the games that you call the donk games right don. If you want to talk about arrogance the way you talk about local Ohio home games makes me sick. I love the home games i play in on a regular basis. Calling them donk games is an a insult to the local player.

Then you talk about how much i love poker but how much do you really know. Did you know that i took a month off without playing any kind of poker. The i played two games and took another half month off. Hey don i skipped school last week to go tot he movies, does that put movues in my top ten in my life.

One more thing i split in lima because i had 8 big blinds and two people had 5 times as many chips. I was able to get a even money chop. Money that i could use.

I will tell you guys one thing if i am gone to get attacked which is what don did i just will not post.

    I'm not attacking

you George. I would not do that on a public forum. You made some very bold comments about yourself....and you publicly disagreed with me, which is your right, but you did not say why. You bring my name up in a forum and I'm not allowed to comment or at the very least ask you to clarify yourself?

And then your X factor post....about those who read books....and how you will always be better than them?

I'm not insulting the local player.....as a matter of fact I'm not insulting anyone....so quit being sensitive. I like you George.....which is strange....because usually I only like black men....but I would make an exception for you

This is going to sound harsh, but I promise I don't intend for it to...the saying "only losers hope to break even" is the truth. While you are enjoying your time with "good people", they are plotting your demise.

I say, have a goal to extract as much money as you can from everyone you play against, and hope for the sake of your friends, that they break even over time - as long as it is not at your expense

I would hope that the people I'm playing with aren't plotting my demise. Although, I sometimes wonder about Dana. You can't fully trust her.

I think the point of this thread was what we hope to get out of poker. You can call me a loser if you want, but if I break even, I have succeeded in MY goal. Which, again, was to have FREE entertainment for the year.

That being said, I did make a profit last year, and expect to do so again this year. But I attempt to keep poker in perspective. It is entertainment. Entertainment usually costs money. If I enjoyed movies, I could spend a fortune going every weekend. It would be nice if I could break even on that, but you can't. Poker allows me that opportunity.

Your goal is obviously different different than mine.

I'm sorry big guy...I tried to qualify the remark, but when I hit submit, I knew that it might irritate you. I don't think you are a loser...I was just saying that hoping to break even is a losing mentality. I certainly respect the "entertainment" value in poker, and also, your goals as a player.

    Again, I meant no harm.

Maybe I should use more of those faces cause sometimes things come across wrong.

I wasn't irritated or thought you meant any harm, was only clarifying what I meant by breaking even. And I certainly understood what you said, which was a valid point.

    No harm, no foul.

And extra faces to show this.
