    Value bet the straight??

    $50nl 6 seat max
    Me $85
    Opponent $82

Opponent is the only decent player at the table, he isnt great but could be classed as a shark compared to other weak tight players at the table. He will occasionally slowplay but usually bets his hands for value. I have never seen him check raise the river. If he is calling my BB he has a hand, he has very rarely raised my BB (he is SB).

Everyone folds to my opponent who raises me $2
    I just call with
    Pot is $4

Flop comes and I have flopped the nuts.
    Opponent checks
    I bet $3.50
    Opponent calls
    Pot is $11

    Turn brings
    Opponent checks
    I bet $8
    Opponent calls $8
    Pot is $27

    River is
My opponent hesitates, like he wants to bet but checks? A flush has arrived and a paired board always gives the possibility my straight is no good. Do you value bet here? I decided I had to and made it only $12 to go. Its a pretty scary board now and I wanted the call. My opponent then check raises me making it another $14 to go. I call pretty quick even though I look beat.

Do you make the value bet?
Do you call his check raise? The player in question doesnt have it in him to check raise bluff here but could believe he is value betting an ace.

I call but consider i am beat with him holding KK JJ
You gave him pretty bad odds to call for a flush draw i think so i dont think i can put him on that

Imo, I think villian fills up on the turn, but I would go on what read you have on this guy when deciding to value bet river or not, I think you are commited to calling the extra $14 regardless

    i would bet-fold the river!
but 12$ is too small: i would make it 17-21$
he will call a flush everytime, herocall trips and two pair sometimes and reraise a fullhouse nearly everytime...
if u make it 2/3 pot he wont ever reraise with air

I called the extra $14, not liking it and he turns over . Obviously with that check raise on the river he is paying attention that I value bet pretty much anything I think may be ahead. I felt like Id been outplayed a little but looking back on the hand it was bad that he did not get a lot more. I do like the way you would play it Aaron my value bets are ussually bigger than on this occasion but I feel only a lone ace would get a call on that board. Thanks as ever for your great replys.

I instafold to a minraise here. We have the complete bottom of our range and there is no hand he can be bluffing with. Nobody is crazy enough to ever turn AT into a bluff here.

This read is correct for 99.99% of villains no matter what their skill level is here. But since we have less than 50% equity against this range we should check behind.

I can't see how he has AX here the way the hand played out. If he did have AX, how does he not c/r or lead the turn? He doesn't put you on QT exactly flopping the nuts, so AX by the turn should be the best hand and wanted to give poor odds for the flush draw. He also doesn't want you to check behind the turn and get a free card for your KQ/JQ/KT type hands.

Finally, AX reluctantly calls the river. AT and even AQ is never a c/r once the flush gets home and the ace has paired.

I definitely check behind here on the river as AX is the only hand that calls us that we still beat.
