A very good month in all, Ive had much better months but will happily accept this months earnings. I have made a huge decision to remain at $50nl. Whilst I beat $100nl and have done so for over a year, I am more comfertable at $50nl. The truth is at $100nl losing a few buy ins can hurt me and this is not the same case at $50nl. Im not saying Ill never jump back up (I havent played $50nl at Carbon for well over a year) but for now Im enjoying life at the lower safer stakes. The whole of this month again I have been bonus chasing and whilst still not there yet I will be at the end of the week, the strange way I write my blog this will be November. A solid month of grinding with better results than the previous three, I have changed little to my game apart from value betting even more, 1 in 3-4 value bets are now value betting myself but that keeps opponents calling. Again due to the bonus chasing Ive been forced to play when I dont want to and expect to play very little poker next month. That hourly rate IS above $10 now though.

October consisted of 4 weeks.

Week 1. +$460 Very solid week where bulk of hands hold up. $50nl PKR
Week 2. +$340 Playing well again at $50nl PKR
Week 3. +$330 Again much the same (boring month to read Im sure)
Week 4. -$80 Just when I think I cannot lose at these stakes I do, happy with my play though just overvaluebetting myself and not folding to reshoves.

October $+1050.
Hourly rate (over I believe 4 months now) $10.

Much of the same is expected for November, my bonus should be cleared and I should be able to play only when I want. I may appear once again at Carbon but it will be strange if I play $50nl there, just not sure if I can drop stakes there after over a year at $100nl and never really struggling. Still not sure, dont want to play $50 at one site and $100 at another. Im not going to set myself a money target as I dont expect to put in the hours but I would like my h/r over $12. Thankyou for reading what was a bit of a boring month.

Lol, my October is as the last Sunday of the month has gone. Strange I know but its the way I have always done it. In "my world" some 30 day months have 5 weeks in them lol. Whatever happens this week will be in Novembers blog as next Sunday appears in November.

That's so solid. Your results are crazy consistent. You averaged about 300 a week and 3 of your weeks were very close to your average. You need to post a blog just on your poker routine is and how you play consistently good poker week by week. Help me out

Ty, they are very nice comments. I dont really have any routines, I play when Im tired, in a bad mood ect and most importantly play at the wrong time of the day ussually when least tables are open. These are all things I shouldnt do but due to shifts and (not being allowed) not playing when my wife is home. I think the consistency comes from playing at a level I can beat and Im comfertable at losing multiple buy ins at. I "think" I would beat $200nl, probably only just and Id never be comfertable losing multiple buy ins here so it would be more stressful than enjoyable. I do beat $100nl fairly consistently but players here can make me uncomfertable at times. $50nl, players just seem very weak tight and let me decide how big the pot is. Its a game I could beat a long time ago and my $100nl experiance allows me to beat it very consitently. Also Im very low variance, I will go all in A LOT but few of these times are bluffs. I will make A LOT of check raise bluffs etc, but once called they can have it the second bullet is rarely fired. Good opponents would pick up on these kinds of things but my opponents arent good. Coin flips are always avoided. I have had a big debate a long time ago with Sparxs, OTB, Poker Broker etc about this with them all feeling strongly that this is wrong by me. If Im a favourite even 51% I should get it in. Even though I have the greatest respect for all the players who I argued with I they have never changed my mind. If I can take someones money just outplaying them, I still feel it is a mistake allowing them to get it in as a 1% underdog. There are big arguments I can rebuy in and "get it in good" again but this is the high variance I avoid. Against a very good opponent I call when 51% ahead, but against the poor I think Im giving them an edge as it gives them a solid chance of taking my money for the day. This low variance style is probably why my results look like they do instead of +500 -300 +400 -350 ect. Many would argue its an incorrect way to play and long term I win a tiny bit more but Im happy with my style, it keeps any tilt locked far away. I wouldnt advise my low variance stlye however when you are playing $1000nl hds up lol.

Nice explanation. I think it is "correct" to get it in with any edge, but playing that way sure does make for a roller coaster ride that can get pretty uncomfortable at times.

Obviously you've found an approach to the game that is comfortable for you and works, so kudos.

This is true in some situations but not in others.

If I'm playing 200nlhu for example and somebody buys in for $104.29 , then that means they are playing for their entire bankroll and I don't want to give them a chance to double up with me having a small edge. If I stack them they can't rebuy. If they double up they will hit and run and with fish being so few and far between I want to play as many hands as possible, not just do a $200 flip. Basically the fishes hit and run strategy turns it into a freezeout rather than a cash game which requires different strategy.

However, if you are taking it to the extreme in 6max situations you are making a big mistake. By not getting it in as a 51% favorite with dead money in the pot it is costing you a lot of money. I'll get their money eventually is really bad because most of these players have more than 1 buyin in their account and it's a matter of how much money you get. By getting it in you can force them to rebuy and win more than 1 buyin off the guy.

If you run bad and double them up then you are deep and your winrate goes up which is awesome.

I know exactly what you mean and agree with a lot that you say, your argument is very similar to the one OTB, Sparxs, etc had against me a long time ago. For a while after that argument I began to change my game a little. Long term playing this way will win me more but that is after a VERY long time of very variance related results. I do agree with you but wont change my "comfertable" style. I also think Im making a long term mistake dropping to $50nl, my profits long term and overall progression of learning of the game will both suffer. That being said I plan to have a family next year and I guess these last few months have become the beggining of my retirement from poker. Thanks everyone for replys in this months post, a boring month has turned into a good little debate.
