    Call the value bet?

So, against my better judgement, I went out to Argosy today and played some 2/5NL. I got stacked once... making a brilliant call against a draw on the turn, only to have him hit 3rd pair to beat me. I was short stacked, so no big deal... nevermind that the hand right before had a guy calling a pot-sized bet with a gutshot and also rivering a higher pair than me.

    Anywho...

My stack is ~$600. I limp utg+1 with
folds to the CO who calls, and sb who completes. BB, who is relatively TAG, and seemed to be the kinda to stab at limped pots pf when possible, bumped to $30. Everyone calls.

    Flop comes: ... yahtzee!!!

SB leads for $55. BB hems and haws for a couple of minutes, gets a stack count, and finally calls. I decide one of them, probably the SB (who I had seen overvalue everything known to man) was on a flush draw. In my head, he was about 40% TPWK/2pr, 60% draw. The BB might have had a legitamate OP... or even two pair. I figured $200 was a pretty good take for the hand, and bumped it to $255, expecting to take it down.

CO folds, and the SB, without a thought, throws in the call. BB folds.

    Turn makes the board:

I'm not happy and the guy makes what looks like a sneaky check. I decide to check behind and begrudgingly call a decent river bet.

On the river, I want to puke. The board is:

The villain looks down real quick, sits up in his char, and throws out a bet of $125. Hero has ~$315 left.

    Hero...

I'm sure I'd fold......I just cant see giving away any money here.

This one would make me want to throw up.

Yeah, have to fold to the river bet. I'd fold face up too, complaining about the turn and river.

Yes 99% fold, your straight has shrivelled to dust, only other play would be to push ALL IN and make him fold his flush. But if he has the queen which is as possible as him having the flush you lose it all. Must fold really.

I probably b*tch and moan and whine and complain and post a thread on here about how bad of a beat I just took... while folding my hand.

    Tough one.

You know, had you just come with me to Argosy, this never would have happened.

Thanks for the analyses, guys. I made the fold pretty quickly, face up, and didn't say a word. I figured it was the right move, but knew the internal dialogue in my head between the hero-caller and the abc-player would continue for a while.

Before I even had a chance to start second-guessing myself, though, the player to my left immediately said, "oh, god, that was the rundown. good fold, he ran you down," while the player to my immediate right said, "oh, man, he had the same hand as you, bad laydown." Player B's argument was that there was no hand that would have beat me on the river that the villain could have called with on the flop.

In the end, I think I made the right choice. It just chaps my ass to continue to lose the dolla dolla billz, y'all.
