Bad Beats Live League - Season 6
Hi all! Scott Cook and I would like to announce the beginning of Season 6 of the Bad Beats Poker League. As most of you know, we've been taking suggestions, trying to perfect our league rules and structure.
The consensus is as follows:
The league will run for 12 games, starting January 10th, 2009. The games will be held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, alternating between the Cook/Bright residence in Westerville and the Reutter/Babel household in Lewis Center.
**In the month of May the games will be the 2nd and 5th weekends, due to Memorial Day weekend falling into the 4th weekend.**
Per our poll, we will move the start time an hour earlier to 5:30 p.m. We historically order pizza (or something) around 7:00 p.m. Anyone interested chips in $5 or $6.
BYOB....
The location of each tournament will be announced on the forum and in the evite. Please PM Scott with your email address to be added (or updated) for the evite.
The buy in will be $100 and the starting stack will be $10,000 with 30 minute blinds.
Both homes can easily accommodate 30 players (3 tables), but can make room for as many as 40. We'd love to start maxing out the game.
The blind structure will be as follows:
Level 1 - 25/50
Level 2 - 50/100
Level 3 - 100/200
Level 4 - 100/200/25
Level 5 - 150/300/25
Level 6 - 200/400/50
Level 7 - 300/600/50
Level 8 - 400/800/100
Level 9 - 600/1,200/100
Level 10 - 800/1,600/200
Level 11 - 1,000/2,000/300
Level 12 - 1,500/3,000/500
Level 13 - 2,000/4,000/500
Level 14 - 3,000/6,000/1,000
Level 15 - 4,000/8,000/1,000
Level 16 - 6,000/12,000/2,000
Level 17 - 8,000/16,000/3,000
Level 18 - 10,000/20,000/4,000
$20 from each $100 entry fee will be placed in reserve to fund the Tournament of Champions prize pool ($80 into tournament prize pool with full payout).
Only the players who reach the Final table of 10 will receive points. First place gets one point for number of original players with .9 points for 2nd, .8 for 3rd and so on (same as last year). For example, if the tournament starts with 24 players, then 1st place would receive 24 points, 2nd place - 21.6 points, 3rd place - 19.2 points, etc.
Tournament of Champions
- Players MUST play four games minimum to qualify for the TOC, regardless of the points they may have accumulated. (No exceptions)
- Top five point makers (with 4 game minimum requirement) receive free entry into TOC ($300 to $400 - final price T.B.D.)
- Players 6 through 10 will be able to enter the TOC at a 67% discount
- Players 11 through 15 may enter the TOC at a 33% discount
- Any other player meeting the 4 game minimum requirement but not eligible for the free or discounted entries into the TOC may buy into the tournament for $300 to $400 (final price T.B.D.)
The season will run for 12 games (through June) with the TOC to be played on the 4th Saturday of July. It will start promptly at noon, and the starting stack will be $20,000. More details to follow.....
The results and updated stats will be posted in the forum promptly at the end of each tournament.

Reason: Changed T.O.C. Price to $300 to $400 (final price T.B.D.).
We must believe in luck. For how else can we explain the success of those we don't like.
