    (WSOP09) I'm Goin to Vegas!

I know its probably really early to start talking about this but I just booked my stay today (lol).

I booked 14 nights at Harrah's for a pretty cheap price (I guess it's a pretty cheap hotel) I am staying June 17 to July 1.

My wsop schedule is more or less set in stone. What really will vary is how many Venetian events and cash etc I can play during my down time. Depending how well I do online between now and then.

Anyway here is what my schedule looks like...

    Event 36: June 18, 2009 Thursday 12 PM No-Limit Hold'em (3 day event) $2,000
    Event 39: June 20, 2009 Saturday 12 PM No-Limit Hold'em (3 day event) $1,500
    Event 48: June 25, 2009 Thursday 12 PM PL Omaha H/L (3 day event) $1,500*
    Event 51: June 27, 2009 Saturday 12 PM No-Limit Hold'em (3 day event) $1,500
    Event 54: June 29, 2009 Monday 12 PM No-Limit Hold'em (3 day event) $1,500

    * Probably not this event but if funds permitting

I am selling my other double bed on a night by night basis at $40 a night. However I cannot guarantee availability yet until I check with some people first.

You're not going to like those starting stacks much Dave. I would recommend that you skip a couple of the lower buy-in events and try one of the $2,500 tournaments.

I don't mind the somewhat faster structure. It is not much different than online, especially with 60 minute levels...

Also I am locked in for those dates because I don't graduate until June 14, so I will have to get what I can in between the 17th and first of July.

I got a house with a few friends for the whole month of June and first two weeks of July. I was less than thrilled with the $1500 World Series events I played last year but will still play a few 1.5's and 2k's (depending on how things are going). I personally would rather play in a smaller buy-in Venetian event. I love big fields because it means more chips in play and softer players in general, but 3000+ players with a somewhat fast structure is just a variance-fest imo. Mostly going for the cash games going on during the series which are so yummy (not to mention an excuse to be in vegas in a sick house for over a month!)

I can always swap in Venetians and cash, I guess it will really depend on how much money I can cash out before I get over there.

Since all of the schedules, for all the events, are not out yet, I do not have everything lined up. As most of you know, there will be events all over Vegas during this time and a price range to fit every budget. Golden Nugget, 4 Queens, Binions, Venetian, Caesars and from what I hear even Bellagio is going to be running events simultaneously with the WSOP. I will be there at least 2 weeks so if any of you ladies want to share a room, please let me know

IF you are hesitant about the PLO8 tournament I would buy a piece of your action. It is hands down my favorite game to play and NOBODY knows how to play it. I'm not sure how much experience you've had playing it but with some practice im sure you could do well. It is VERY rarely spread live and the largest PLO8 tournament online is a $215 on stars (full tilts is like $75). So the only people with PLO8 tournament experience are the ones who will play those $26, $75 level tournaments, and the people who play those tournaments aren't normally the ones playing in a $1,500 event. I won't be 21 till august so I will miss this WSOP but I will be playing this event in 2010 for sure! It's unfortunate how few starting chips you get in the $1,500 events but I understand the reasoning behind it. MY buddy cashed in a $1,500 event two years ago that had like 3k ppl in it and he said it sucked playing short at first but once you did manage to get a good chip stack he liked the structure.

are you still working up in detroit or did you finally come to your senses and decide to play poker? I'm assuming this is the case since you are spending over a month in vegas.

Dave W. - Harrah's is a nice hotel, and priced well. It's a great place for what you'll pay. They also have a free shuttle to the Rio, which is helpful to save on cabfare (unless you're renting a car and then it won't matter anyway), and it's center strip, so it's very close to pretty much all the other places that will be hosting deepstacks, like Venetian and Caesar's. Good choice
