    Question Sit & Go strategy?????

I'm thinking about getting into SNGs. I play mostly cash games (6-max, mixed games, and heads up), and I want to add SNGs to my arsenal mostly because they seem so fun. This forum seems to have a lot of very succesful sit and goers so my question is simple...

    What's your edge?

Do you go for the win or the money? What is your general gameplan throughout the sit and goes? What types of sit and goes did you start out playing and how did you move up? Do you recomend shorthanded, one table, or multi table SNGs. Basically, what do you know that the average opponent doesn't know that makes all of you so succesful at these tournaments?

There are a lot of good posts about this, so I'm just gonna tell you what I started out with.

I played a lot of 5 dollar 9 and 6 handed. Graduated up to 10 dollar when my BR got to 500 or so but mainly played 6 handed at that level. (I'm a nit) Once I was making a good profit off of those, I noticed the $5 90 mans and started playing those a lot. I started doing well and got a huge cash in the Daily Double B. I then moved up (even thought my BR was almost 2k) to a whopping $20 tables, mainly 9 handed as I found them weaker than the 6 handed ones. I moved up and discovered the 45 mans, starting at 10 bucks. I finally got the guys to put up a whopping $26 bucks without flinching and that's where I play all the time now. I learned shorthanded, then moved up slowly. I ignored the 18 handed games, playing them infrequently.

As you see, I moved up slowly, I followed Chris Ferguson's BR management very well. This took from Feb 2007 til late 2008.

My tips for SNG's. 6/9 handed, tight til your short handed then AGGRO. Play ABC and you'll win a lot. When you start getting shorter and around the bubble, that's when you will determine if your an ave player or a good player. Ask one of the great players for their strategy .

45's, as stated there's a great post(s), but tight ABC til the blinds get up there/your stack gets short. Then become very AGGRO in the right situations. My newest theory, that isn't a new theory at all, is get your chips all in first. Don't make weak calls, cuz you'll just be dumping chips away. Take advantage of the passive players, but don't fool a donkey who'll call your plays for a passive players. $11 45 man or less, don't make many plays cuz they won't fold. Same can be sort of said for $26 as well.

I missed your other questions but I'm sure others will share their thoughts. Tight Aggressive makes money in SNG's. Does it make the most? Try it and see for yourself.

My thoughts on sit and go strategy is basically the same as the previous post. Tight play till the blinds get up there. Then turn it on. In my oppinion you should play for the cash in a sit and go and then once youve reached the cash you go all out for the win.

I play live and not online so I dont know anything about online strategy or how it may differ

As a winning cash game player I think if you play anything under $50 sngs you will destroy it. I used to beat the 6 seat games $20 on ipoker network with ease. I once won 7 6 seat sngs in a row on this network. My advice to you is stick with cash games as you seem a very good player. SNGs are ok to an extent, if you are playing other good players it comes down to luck especially full ring. Other players may disagree with me but there are too many players online now who will fold everything till blinds get worth playing and then will start pushing hard with a decent hand. Too many players now know when "ev" pushes are the right play and sngs in my opinion have had the skill taken out of them. This may seem harsh but I didnt move from a week in week out winning sng player for nothing. I know you are a good player but if you play above $30 you wont win as much as you do in cash games where the real skill comes into place. You may be a lot better than your opponents but this skill will be "watered down" in my opinion. If you go ahead with it my advice is go for the win and play 6 seat.
